I forgot how awful I was at this game

So I decided to reinstall BF2042 and do a little bit of grinding on the battle pass to get a few camos, just mess around, that sort of thing.

Now I'm remembering why I quit playing.  130 hours in, level 93-94, and I'm just AWFUL.  Can't win a single gunfight.  Can't get near an objective without somebody I never see stepping out and killing me instantly.  Insta-deaths abounding.  I admit I wasn't doing great on the BF6 beta but I was doing better than this!  I stick my head up out of cover, I just die instantly, and not always to snipers either.

Not quite sure what to do, tbh.  I'm an objective player, I like supporting the team with revives and heals and ammo, and flag caps and all that rather than just grabbing for kills, but it's not like I can help my team out when I'm going 1-12, y'know?

Has the playstyle changed since season 2 or so?  I'm not accusing anybody of cheating but man the playerbase that's left here is freaking GOOD.

Yeah, it's just...that wonderful feeling of being completely ineffectual because you can't move to an objective without somebody you can't see killing you or getting sniped from halfway across the map or blown up by a tank shell from half a mile away.  Hopefully I'll get my eye back a little bit because otherwise I'm not gonna be able to stay at this long enough to get any BF6 goodies, between low xp gains and frustration.  I mean, the game's definitely better than release, I can say that. :)

  • Coming in as a new player to 2042 but old player to BF yeah I get what you mean. I do pretty well with vehicles luckily thanks to just BF experience in general, but yeah in infantry firefights it's a tossup, and sniping was a hot mess. I can't really say much because I'll still do an occasional game where I'll go 12-24 and often if I'm infantry only wind up maybe 17-14 or 14-15 but I will say while it generally sucks and I avoid playing infantry as much as possible when I do I stick to basically one maxim- don't stop moving. Unless I'm 100% confident my position has a narrow corridor I can camp or I am actively firing, I'm jittering left right forward back constantly. That, and the secondary sawn off shotgun is fantastic whenever I'm worried I'm about to get jumped from an angle I don't expect, OHK from point blank hipfire is so good in tight spaces where someone decided to be cheeky and climb over a fence or go around to the backdoor.

But yeah even with that, I 100% can say it's not really a fun experience to constantly have to tap dance knowing if I don't I'm going to be dead in a half second.

  • Its a issue coming from someone that have few hours, and want to be competitive in this game...
I passed the 3300h.. dont see the problem of going into objectives with smoke

serious, are you guys even trying, or you just prefer to come complain in foruns?

Hey, I'm trying.  I'm just not doing well.  I hadn't played in a long time before coming back and trying to get this BF6 stuff with the pass, so I should expect to suck.  I'm just literally losing every gunfight and getting popped by people that I never see.  Feels like I'm in bright pink armor with strobes attached, y'know?  I'll slow down, stop charging headlong, and run some suppressors.  Most of the pass stuff isn't too hard, it'll just take me longer than a BF god.  Although 75 kills with the GEW-46 to unlock that last LMG might be an all-weekend grind.

Skill issue imo. If my girlfriend can do good without ever playing FPS game then you can. Just don't grind, game is fine but if you don't like it don't play. Stop complaining, it skin for people that LOVE this game.
