Changes I want to see before support ends
I left a similar comment on Marzipan Dan's video https://youtu.be/uiRS0nqRBn4?si=NR1L0ACvq2bu3B7g a while ago on the same subject. I think it's important enough to bring to discussion here. These are changes I would like to see to the game, and they are realistic changes that I think really should not be that hard to implement.
Eliminate the sectors from Conquest entirely. One flag = one sector. Does not need an explanation why this is needed
Remove pinging while downed. This feature is so harmful to game play. Anyone you kill immediately pings your position the squadmate putting you at a disadvantage with every kill you make. This creates a constant cycle of kill, die, revive and it is silly.
Give us a notification when we are spotted. I don't care if it never leaves my screen.
Remove AI from AOW. Yesterday I was playing a round of conquest on Manifest in the middle of the night in a party of 4. We captured the B sector and held it for a good 3-5 minutes while AI were still seemingly spawning in the sector, which is impossible. The reality was that every AI travels with their squad, so it seems every AI is a medic. If you do not exterminate every single AI in the area (in this case Manifest B sector with tons of bushes and places to hide), they continue to multiply.
Now I'm not finished with the AI, because the problem with this particular match I mentioned, was that the AI were completely dominating the B sector for the enemy team, the players of said team were not even contesting B sector. This goes back to my point of having sectors in conquest. B sector on Manifest 64 is the single most important flag, and because it was getting overrun with reviving AI, the AI singlehandedly won the game for the enemy team who didn't even deserve it.
Remove the ability to camp in spawn with a vehicle. If you spawn a vehicle in base, you should have 30 seconds or a minute at most to leave spawn. If you choose not to, back to the deploy screen for you, with an added death to you and your vehicle.
Fix the sights. Bright the fusion holo and K8 holo where they're supposed to be, in front of your eye. Take a look at the coyote sight in BF4, and compare it to the fusion holo. See the problem? Now take a look also at the kobra on any gun in this game that isn't the XM8 or AC9. Now compare them to the kobra on the XM8 or AC9. The kobra was actually fixed in season 4 to appear more closer to the eye like older titles. The other two kobras are the old view, which also needs to be changed.
For this I tend to use either the kobra or the UH-1 smart. They both have a normal proximity range to the eye. But the UH-1 has another problem. Clean up all the sights with vignette (UH-1, 8R, XDR) and the sights that got silent nerfed with mud like the 2x on the deagle or crossbow.
Balance vehicles in breakthrough. That mode is trash for defenders. Balance means balance. Don't give us your interpretation of the word balance. The only sector in all of breakthrough with vehicle balance is Breakaway D sector on large. And I believe the vehicles were given to defenders only because players complained about the design of that map. And I will say, that sector is fun, but it's literally one sector in the entire game.
Remove FLAK from transport vehicles for the final time and leave it.
This is an idea to further balance the classes but it is a bit of a radical one. As it stands the assault class offers nothing to the team aside from the ability to farm. This involves a slight class rework. Remove the defibrillators from Falck, Irish, and Angel, and give them to the assaults. Remove med pens from the game and give assaults med bags and pouches that can be shared with supports. Give the supports a reworked Angel crate that can be placed indoors, and rework Angel.
Given the terrible specialist abilities mixed into classes, the game would benefit far more from assaults being the medics. Mackay and Sundance have access to downed players the current medics do not. This allows their abilities to be used for the team. Dozer has his shield to clear the front lines before reviving. Zain is his own medic and can eat a * of bullets while clearing a room to heal others. Falck receives a slight nerf to how much XP she can farm and given a new passive, Irish is mostly unchanged, and Angel gets the rework he already deserves. Assaults become medics and supports are purely ammo specialized.
There is another topic that I will mention another time, and that is alternate breakthrough layouts. ZenaFPS and GravityXIII both have called for this, and I realize it requires more work, but I will also throw my ideas in for alternate maps another time. But I will say this. Of the small breakthrough maps we don't get to play anymore in AOW, I will say worth bringing in are Exposure, Breakaway, Discarded, Manifest, and Kaleidoscope. I would say all of these maps save for
Discarded play much better on breakthrough small.
