Co-op mode from Battlefront II adapted to Battlefield 2042?

Turning point from Battlefront 2015 which has been turned into co-op in Battlefront II, according to me, should be implemented as DLC for Battlefield 2042 because it's so fun playing with friends or AI soldiers together against AI bots and capturing command posts to advance to the next phase of the map.

The rules should be the same if it's going to appear as DLC for the game.

It should be also available in portal mode.

What do you guys think? Should it come as DLC or not?

  • @Player55That would be unprecedented for the Battlefield series.

I could see that type of gamemode being much more appealing to consoler players rather than PC...

I do remember hearing / seeing that would be available in Portal for players to create for themselves, so I do not see EA DICE implementing that on their own.

  • @Player55Yes it is known as Breakthrough mode.

Officially its a PVP mode but in Battlefield 2042 we will be able to play it in Solo and Coop matches as well if you choose to.

Will even still get Full XP for these matches but I don't think there will be matchmaking for the Coop matches so you might need to find your own team for this.

"Also new is the introduction of AI Soldiers (Artificial Intelligence) to the series. As a multiplayer-only experience, it’s important for us to let you play Battlefield 2042 when and how you want. Here is what that looks like in the All-Out Warfare experience of Conquest and Breakthrough:

Multiplayer – AI soldiers are used for server-filling capabilities, ensuring your matches remain full, no matter your location.

Co-Op – Allows you to play together with friends, against AI soldiers.

Solo – If you wish to perfect your skills for multiplayer, you can even play alone against AI soldiers"

@Jesse165Well, yeah I can see how those are similar, but Breakthrough is full games of 30+ players on each team... which is not really "co-op" as I would define it.

@Player55^ this is probably as close as you can get though, as long as you understand that Breakthrough games are pretty big...

  • It saddens me that the glorious BF3 co-op missions have been condemned so badly by history!

(slightly joking, but i did have some repeat fun with the apache mission and bomb defusal in co-op, even if the QTE at the end could die in a fire)

Edit: says something perhaps that i cant remember in hindsight if it was actually an apache or cobra, but you get the idea.

Combined Arms in BFV? Hardly took off. I could never find anyone to play with (Billy no mates!)

@Fringerunner the BF3 coop missions were definitely memorable...specifically Drop 'em like liquid and Fire from the Sky but most only played them for the COOP weapons until the COOP unlocks were purchasable. Of course here on AHQ we do get the occasional person asking how to play them since the Battlelog COOP is rather buggy at this moment. The QTEs can die in a fire as far as I'm concerned...QTEs were one of the few things from that time that I really loathe.
