Common Courtesy

So, it's looking increasingly likely Dice cant live up to their promise to deliver the big patch early April.

At the most generous interpretation, that means before Friday at the latest, and the following weekend is a public holiday meaning that if it isn't before Friday it wont be before Tuesday the next week.

That also means if they do drop the patch later in this week and it breaks things, Dice have a very small window to fix things before they go, sigh, on holiday again.

If they are unable to get us the patch this week, then the CMs need to draw up a proper, and fulsome, apology.

Dice have prevailed upon our patience long enough, it's their turn to show good faith.

I know some may point at a few CMs quietly dropping the word 'early' from posts, but I don't count that as informing the community in a good faith fashion.

Early April was the promise, and if Dice can't live up to their word, then they really do owe us an apology.

  • @TAW_RinkoDICE setting their own deadlines and then failing to meet their own self imposed deadlines is a perfect example of modern DICE.

Edit: I know the CM's aren't in total control and are just messengers, but it's really disappointing how little engagement there continues to be (basically none) and that we need to beg developers for updates that we're not getting from the community team : /

You're not wrong. But it ought not be normalized, even inside Dice.

At some point, it stops being mere business stuff, and starts being rude and disrespectful.

A point, I suspect, we may have already passed.

CMs ought to be more than mere messengers.

They should be engaging with the community in all sorts of ways.

Now, I'm pretty sure we all know that the reason why PartWelsh isn't running a screenshot competition on these boards is that they don't want to have to deal with angry customers.

But, dealing with angry customers is inevitable when you release a game in an alpha state and charge full price for it, then essentially go silent for months.

The potentially hostile atmosphere isn't a creation of the players, its directly attributable to Dices actions both before and after release.

I cant help thinking that if Dice CMs were better at engaging with the community, better at taking the pulse of the players, then Dice maybe would be making fewer mistakes.

i don't think an apology and an explanation is a big ask

  • @TAW_Rinko Agreed, the lack of any attempt to engage with the community regularly is lame. Monthly "feedback loops" that they post and abandon until the "recap" at the end of the month ain't it.

If they complain about toxicity, it's honestly their fault. This is their community to manage, even when things are rough, and they're responsible for trying to channel frustration in a more positive way. They don't seem to be making any attempt to really do so, unfortuantely.

It's just astounding that we have 3+ CM's working on this game but we see more communication and, more importantly ENGAGEMENT, from smaller teams with lone community manager working with playerbases that are as small, if not bigger, than what 2042 currently has.
  • @Psubond Considering DICE still hasn't apologized for the launch of 2042, sadly an apology and a bit of humility seems to be a big ask for DICE : /

Common courtesy from this bunch of cowboys? No chance,if they had any sort of courtesy this game would have never been released at all.
