After reading about the upcoming updates, I don’t think there is going to be a fix for this issue till after mid-February.

Seeing the same issue on Xbox today (series x) Region UK. Crossplay off, really hard to get into lobbies now some games it's impossible.
Portal and HZ have been dead since launch for me, no servers full then the game just times out.
Both 64 and 128 lobbies are dead, I just have to cycle around them till I get lucky takes around 10 mins average.
They really need to enable console crossplay. I have no desire to play against mouse and keyboard setup.
- da_dingBAT4 years agoSeasoned Hotshot@obscene it has been like that since launch for me and my local friends. I connect from Asia and there are zero matches when crossplay is off. I had to resort to connecting my PS5 through a VPN, that was connected to Europe, just so that I could play the game. My ping is mostly over 120 because of this. I’m at level 94 and I’m at the point of giving up on the game. The thought of playing like that for another 2 months?!? is just awful.
VPN connected to Europe works without any issue when crossplay is off. I am able to find matches in under 20 seconds. - kregora4 years agoSeasoned Ace@obscene I believe this is true for all "Crossplay OFF" lobbies. In my opinion the main issue is the current Party system. When you have Crossplay set to OFF and you join a friend that has Crossplay ON that you get the message, that you need to enable Crossplay. When you say okay, that actually changes your configuration. If you don't change it back, Crossplay is then enabled. Originally I thought it is a temporary change, for as long as I am in that party, but that isn't the case.
I guess a lot of players don't realize it, so everything sooner than later defaults to Crossplay ON.
