Console only (non-crossplay) lobbies are dead - current gen

I connect from Asia - the closest BF server location to me is Singapore, and I cannot find a game with cross-play off on the PS5. I've heard the same from friends in Australia and other parts of Asia. The only time I'd get to join a non-crossplay game is when I join a friend who's from Europe.

Are any other regions/platforms seeing the same?

18 Dec 2021 - BFBulletin on Twitter reports that Florian has acknowledged this as a known issue: https://twitter.com/BFBulletin/status/1471888667883024385.

Summary (updated 15 Dec 2021):

  • Multiple users from South America confirms that they cannot matchmake with cross-play off
  • Multiple users from US West Coast reports the same
  • User from Asia confirms the same
  • PC user from Australia states that if they have cross-play off, they cannot find a match. Indicating that this is not just a console-only problem, rather related to non-crossplay matchmaking?
  • Console user from Australia has the same issue
  • Console user from the UK says they have no problem finding matches with cross-play off

17 Dec 2021:

  • Xbox SX user from France reports not being able to find HZ matches if cross-play off, since early access (Nov 12). AoW matchmaking is fine for them.
  • Xbox SX user from US West Coast reports that they are not able to find matches since before thanksgiving, while cross-play is off.
  • Two players from Australia reports that they are not able to find matches while cross-play is off. Platform not specified.
  • PS5 user from UK reports that they are unable to find Portal game if they have cross-play off. AoW matchmaking is fine for them.

18 Dec 2021:

  • Another PC user who has cross-play off reports that they cannot join Conquest matches as of late. No location specified.
  • A PS5 user from the UK reports that they haven't had problems finding matches. However, they said that they saw a number of bots in a breakthrough match yesterday, which was off-putting.
  • Another user from Australia reports the same issue. No platform specified.
  • A player from the Middle East region reports the same. No platform specified.
  • A user from US East Coast reports that they can rarely find a match. No platform specified.
  • Two Xbox SX users from Brazil reports that they cannot find a match if cross-play is off.
  • A PS5 user from US East Coast reports that they have no problem finding matches with cross-play off.

@obscene I believe this is true for all "Crossplay OFF" lobbies. In my opinion the main issue is the current Party system. When you have Crossplay set to OFF and you join a friend that has Crossplay ON that you get the message, that you need to enable Crossplay. When you say okay, that actually changes your configuration. If you don't change it back, Crossplay is then enabled. Originally I thought it is a temporary change, for as long as I am in that party, but that isn't the case.

I guess a lot of players don't realize it, so everything sooner than later defaults to Crossplay ON.

  • @Obzkuruk  PS4 players are with Xbox One when there's xplay on. And alone when crossplay is off. Old gen consoles don't get crossplay with PC. Never. PC is only crossplaying with new gen (XsX and PS5).

  • PS5

    East Coast USA

With crossplay turned off,  I can almost never find a match in Breakthrough (128 or 64).

Jumped back on the game (PS5) after a few months. Matchmaking in Asia is horrible for breakthrough - 0 players if I have crossplay off, mostly bots if I turn crossplay on. A server browser would help immensely.
