Console players
Honestly, the aim assist is ridiculous. Xbox players kill me with just 3-5 shots, all the time. It Looks like the shots don't hit them. 90% of my kills are for xbox players. Aim Assist is very strong...
If only Gyro Aim existed. And its not the type during Wii and PS3 days. Its tremendously better nowadays where you barely tilt your controller to aim. You get close to Mouse-like aiming with NO Aim Assist and 95% of the movement is simply in the wrists.
Unfortunately Xbox has no Gyro--hopefully one day Microsoft gets it together and evolves on this front-- but man I would love to have it on PS5. No more of this problem with "too strong of AA" or "AA is weak and sucks."
I have played on Fortnite using Gyro for a few weeks now and its so much better than stick aiming. I even try bouncing between stick and Gyro Aim and its night and day better. Just takes a little time to get use to.
Here was a couple videos of me using Gyro and granted, Im not exactly great at Fortnite but I enjoy some of the custom games (not a fan of BR and building modes) and like to mess with Flick Stick Gyro Aim:
@BgobbleD I don't think gyro aiming would make it even. To me aiming a controller that your holding with 2 hands wouldn't feel the same or be as easy as using using a mouse that is pressed against a table with one hand. Plus that would be a huge change to console players who play with a controller and don't seem many actually switch over to that if it were released for bf2042. I'm sure some will use it and master it pretty quickly but not many will. The only time I ever used it was on the wii and I did not like, granted that technology has advanced since then but I don't it will feel good to use now.
@ZRuff46 I think you would be surprised how many people actually converted to it. Might still be a minority overall but it is trending quite a bit. Partly thanks to Nintendo getting aggressive and now Steam has it natively (steam Deck apparently is great with it). Sony is finally pushing it a bit more on their big exclusives. Apparently Destiny had it finished and ready but forgot to launch it with the release version. And a dev said it was amazing but Destiny at launch was a mess so no surprise it was forgotten. He was asking his former coworkers if it could be "turned on" but sounded like it was no longer that easy sadly many years later. And consider the fact that over 70% of Splatoon 2 players stuck with Gyro Aim and that game sold 13 million copies. Go to the forums and players strongly suggest adapting to Gyro Aim if you plan on playing PvP because its so much more advantageous
Theres a large amount of voices on Overwatch 2 trying to get it implemented on all consoles as well.
Gyro Aim IS growing due to its advancement. Its heavily improved and people are breaking away from the original stigma it had during Wii days as they realize its potential for controller players. I was one who could not stand Gyro Aim back then. I retried it over a year ago and was kinda blown away. And now, I actually make my purchases for some games on whether or not it has gyro aim on PS5. The gameplay experience is improved THAT much for me. And I am good with stick aiming as well (2.0 K/D on BF games and about 1.5 K/D in CoD games).
Is it as good as Mouse? Depends on the players and the settings they choose. You say its easier to keep your mouse on a surface. Youre not wrong. But once I adapted to Gyro Aim, being jittery was not a problem anymore. I naturally stabilized BUT theres also tons of settings to helps with this (Sensitivity, Acceleration, Threshold, Deadzones, and Smoothing). If you watch my videos, youll see that I stay mostly tight. And the gap from clunkier stick aiming and mouse is dramatically improved.
Actually, theres some Gyro Aim players with Flick Stick on PC that outperform PC players on say Halo or Valorant. Not by much but damn they are good with it and they look like they are using an insane mouse haha. Flick Stick is incredible too which is what I use in Fortnite. I just love how intuitive and fast it is.
At this point, I wish shooters (especially AAA) had the trifold of input accessibility:
- KnM
- Gyro Aim
- traditional stick aiming
This covers ALL spectrums for any player but also helps with multiple types of disabilities. People who are missing a hand can use Gyro Aim-- I have actually talked and seen pics of a guy who had a custom Dualshock controller and Gyro Aim allowed him to play shooters. People with wrist issues can still use Stick Aiming. And KnM is always still there for many others.
