I think most people would be glad to pay $20 or whatever every 3 months for 4 new maps just like we had it in the past. If they have the resources they could just switch it up, push out 4 new maps every third month and charge for them. This means new servers of course because not everyone will buy etc. it was working in the past though. Not sure what is happening at Dice financially.
- SCUBASTEVE1202 years agoSeasoned Ace@JOGAGATYA I think at this point current players would most definitely buy dlcs, I mean they're willing to waste money on cosmetics obviously as we see in game 😆

I'd rather polish than content. That said BF2042 has done a rather poor job of being able to deliver on either.
If the game is good enough the content doesn't 'exhaust'. If that was true than why are people still playing BF4, BF1 and BFV? When was the last time CS:GO or TF2 got new content?

@SCUBASTEVE120Imagine wanting the same amount of content as with Premium model, but for free. LolAnd at the same time, imagine all the money that is being made on cosmetics and battlepasses that weren't there in the Premium model. Leading to the hope that we'd get anywhere near the amount of content we would expect in previous games. I don't care about battlepasses, I'd much rather pay an extra $30 or whatever for premium and have many times more content by now than where we're at. Someone considering a gun charm or a sticker on the side of a vehicle as "content" I find to be hilarious.

A lot of us said this is where the live service model would end up back in the BF1 era. Its not good for the consumer. It has been a gradual erosion in the quality of games industry wide. BF2042 is a perfect example of just how little content has been release compared to even earlier live service titles, much less premium and dlc models.
Meanwhile publishers have record profits and executives have never been wealthier. This is only going to get worse.
- 2 years ago@UP_LordPlumber Monetarily which generates more revenue, the battlepass + ingame store vs 1 off premium payment of £40 or equivalent currency

Lol@UP_LordPlumber to play Devil's advocate it's not free since it's not a F2P game; we paid full price for 2042 and "Live Service" games are far more heavily monetized than Battlefield games were under the Premium system so DICE theoretically should have more money to offer players even more content than we received under the Premium system. Instead we get far less content under BF5's and BF2042's Live Services - in 2042's case 4 maps per year instead of 4 maps per quarter, and maps are the life blood of an FPS.

@SCUBASTEVE120Imagine wanting the same amount of content as with Premium model, but for free. Loli paid 100 bucks for this game. that's the premium model price. i don't think at least HALF the maps we used to get would be a big ask
- SCUBASTEVE1202 years agoSeasoned Ace@Psubond wow that sucks. A good friend of mine was so excited for the "New modern Battlefield" that he bought the most expensive edition as well. He said it was just a waste of money he has less than ~35 hours in it. I don't think it's alot to ask for at least 2 maps starting with season 4. Since s2 and s3 did a map each and 2 reworks each. Bit season 4 is extended by 2 weeks making it 14 weeks???? And they're only doing the discarded rework (saving hourglass for s5) I'm starting to truly think none of the devs are die hard players like the old community or remaining community, that these people don't even play this game or they don't play it much at all.
- SCUBASTEVE1202 years agoSeasoned Ace@Psubond It is truly sad that they can't do better than this. Still avoid relevant topics such as this to answer Lil nothing topics on the board
