Controller mapping/GUI ps5

Hello EA,

I apologize if this is not in the correct thread.

I have some feedback as well as a question.

I am wondering if something is intentional or not… there are so many controls but with only limited controller mapping for console, this appears to be tailored for PC. I want to remap my controls by pushing 2 buttons together and/or by holding a button. For example, I want to map a function “hold square” but the millisecond you push square, that is what the function is mapped to. The same with pushing 2 buttons. It only chooses one or the other. This removes an entire layer of mapping functionality. Was this an oversight? Is this a bug? Was this intentional? I can’t even map a scoreboard or a text-chat button!!

Furthermore, the controls for the vehicles, both ground and air, make no sense to me and are seemingly implemented in a way to increase difficulty of use for the sake of being difficult. The remapping of these controls are also highly confusing, obfuscated, and inherently hard to understand. As a supporter and player of the BF series since BF 1942, I am extremely disappointed in this and how everything is laid out.

Likewise, the GUI is just as hard to understand, navigate through, and operate. There are layers upon layers of options and sub-options that are poorly categorized and in “wrong places”. For example, there are 2 different headings for controls each with their own sub options. I understand that you can “get used to it” after some working, but that doesn’t change the fact of how messy it is set-up.

On a positive note, the gameplay is very enjoyable, albeit with a few issues but it does not concern me at this point as much as the controller mapping and GUI concerns. Thank you for reading my post. Have a great day.

I agree, I think since we use controllers these custom mapping features are especially important because we have less buttons to work with. What you are describing is a combo and shift functions.

There are already examples of these in-game, when it comes to the two ways you can call in a vehicle. The Combo is pressing both bumpers to call in the vehicle. The Shift Function is used when you hold right bumper and left analog up to call in a vehicle.

Me personally I would like to map 2 buttons to the same function. Meaning two buttons do the exact same thing. I would like to do this when flying a helicopter. Unfortunately the default helicopter controls and even the alternate ones are not suitable to me. I would like to match 'PITCH' to both Analog Sticks and inverted on the left. That way the Left stick acts as movement, and the right stick acts as aiming. Meaning you move forward, back left or right with the left stick and you can aim normally in any direction with the right stick. It Feels very natural and intuitive, and I've seen it in other games. So basically, mapping two stick directions to 'PITCH' would be ideal.
