'Crossplay off' should be default

I noticed when you play crossplay on, there are many console players there, while the crossplay off servers are completely empty.

Right now 'crossplay on' is the default setting when you start up the game. That's why there are so little people on the 'crossplay off' servers, because you need to actively go change the setting. Many people don't bother to do this.

Wouldn't it be possible to fill up the crossplay off servers first? So crossplay off would be at least playable.

For the moment its feels like crossplay off isn't even a choice (on ps5)... very frustrating!

    @UP_LordPlumberYou can easily fix this by making it a 3-way option:

    1) Crossplay off
    2) Standard ( This is the default setting when you start up the game for people who don't care wether its on or off... these people could be used for filling up the crossplay off servers)
    3) Crossplay on

    Or a second solution would be to make 'crossplay off' the default setting when you start up the game.

    For the moment crossplay off isn't even a choice for ps5 players, servers are always empty.

    @UP_LordPlumber Its unbalanced, as a consoleplayer you always have the disadvantage. Controller is slower in aiming, speed and accuracy, even with the aim assist.

    Its like bringing a knife to a gunfight...

    I'm on a PS5, I turned cross-play off on day one, I find plenty of games (though it can depend on the time of day).  I'd prefer an option for console only cross-play.  But that won't happen, I don't think DICE really care about whether a player uses cross-play or not.

    @cornybbq2 I turned cross play off when this game first came out. In one of the updates it was turned back on. Now if I turn it off on PS4 the servers are empty. It's annoying that dice has it on by default after updates. Your basically forced to keep it on

    @HARLEMnycity yeah thats exact my problem... its crossplay on by default. Thats the reason why crossplay off servers are empty. Really annoying

    Probably due to self-fulfilling prophecy of enough people finding that they couldn't get in games with it off that they put it back on through their support channels or something. Just hazard [zoning] a guess.

    Either way, if they tried to fill own-platform games then spread to multi-plat I honestly wouldn't care as long as I get into a game quickly instead of needing to wait 3 minutes to timeout before searching/spreading the search group -- which with crossplay on fills quite quickly most of the time [less than 20 seconds at most]

    They just need a smarter matchmaker. Make no-crossplay the default and fall back to crossplay if not enough players. Instead of forcing everyone into a static pool, add some logic to it with priority. It would slow the matchmaking times for a low population game. But it would still allow DICE/EA to take advantage of the increased pool of players by default. Give us 3 options.
    • Option 1 (default): Attempt to match with players on my same platform first. If not enough players found then match all platform.
    • Option 2. Always attempt to match with all platforms.
    • Option 3. Never attempt to match with other platforms.

    With option 1 as default, it would still let DICE off the hook when it comes to not having enough players to seed the matchmaker due to times of low popularity. And if they want to do SBMM, they can still put checks around Option 1 for standard deviation of skill, and if exceeded some maximum it would switch to crossplay.

    @Anobix I personally never had a problem finding games with cross play off until they made it on but default for everyone. Now even though I play on a ps4 I'm playing 90% of the time against Xbox users. I'm not really sure what it is about Xbox users but they play completely different from ps4 users.

    @HARLEMnycity umm... ps4 only crossplay with xbox it's a console only crossplay. Unlike PS5 and Series systems that are forced to play against mnk PC players.
