Dear DICE / EA - open letter
Dear DICE / EA, I'm writing this because I don't want you to get the wrong idea/impression. The vast majority of this franchice's fans are looking forward to a modern age tactical mil-sim shooter, ...
TLDR/Skimmed
Seems to hit the good points. However one major problem I'm noticing here, and on the discord (I don't use reddit so I cant say what happens there), is the distinct lack of any sort of devs chiming in on well put together threads. Just CMs keeping people civil. I feel quite abandoned by this team. This team who had so long to make this game, only to under deliver and then make what? One post last week since launch about changes? Like I have a daily growing list of changes to provide gameplay feedback on, and what? Just go make another thread thatll get one reply? Maybe two? If that, only to have it get buried under people making the same threads about refunds? I will continue to play, as even a dumpster fire can be put out with enough water. But this dev team has an insane amount of work to do to make this right.
@GiSe87 @ Kudos to your post.
BF series is not a mil-sim per se. The series has got a strong militaristic feel or at least BFs on Refractor Engine.
More and more employees join Embark Studio. I wouldn`t be surprised to see after 5+ years or even sooner a direct competitor to the BF and CoD series - a true BF, I hope so.
No emplacements on the map like stationary TOW or a machine gun are not game-breaking factors but mind-boggling. No stationary or automatic AA in Safe Bases is the only thing that is raising eyebrows currently.
I hate the idea of the universal soldier that may equip any gadget. I wasn`t sure about the weapons. Right now, I would rather see the old system in play at least in Conquest. Sometimes I`m not quite sure which soldier is a direct threat in close range or long-range - this really puts me off balance. Far less incentive to cooperate, I`m not sure who is supposed to push and who is covering the backs this time. I really loved the "paper, stone, scissors" mechanic that has been mentioned not only once in press reviews with the original DICE team. Commander mode used to be highly tactical with the zoomable camera from above like in RTS games.
Operators grounded in real-life military scenarios could be a potential solution, an additional layer in a class system. Right now the game feels like a lackluster, cringe-worthy experience.
