@Straatford87can we stop ignoring the elephant in the room?
On reddit you "miss" the most upvoted comment while saying that there is a change to 30mm cannon. Lock ALL weapons in stealth including bombs and co-ppilot.
For the reference https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield2042/comments/vzielo/comment/ig8nfv5/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3 (120+ upvotes on the moment when I type it).
I don't agree with that, the co-pilot weapon is a suppressed gun IIRC, which makes sense in a 'stealth' manner and it also overheats VERY quickly. Maybe changing cooldowns could be useful and some of the splash of the 30mm, but to me the addition of the stealth completely overcast any reason at all to use the nightbird for several reasons - its speed and agility was changed at the same time as the launch unannounced (maybe unintended?), the damage that the stealth can do hugely overshadows the nightbird, and only being able to have one attack removes any reason to use it either in comparison.
I've been trying to counter the stealth helis with Rao because others have said it's possible to counter them with him, either I'm doing it wrong (definite possibility) or he really is the most useless specialist of the bunch (in my opinion, he IS useless) and there just doesn't seem much you can do to counter them with a half decent pilot at the controls.
I think when you use the laser-designator (SOFLAM) on them, then whether they are in stealth-mode or not, you should be able to target them.
- direct3r4 years agoSeasoned Ace@Ironhead841 It's possible but you need to be quick with shooting the AA launcher, also the stealth helis are so agile, they just hide somewhere quickly...
@AJ_Clickz @Straatford87 : before the stealth helis came in, the balance was almost OK, but the stealth helis just destroy whole lines of fight easily and also kill any spawning players before it gets shot down most times.- 4 years ago

Literally no one was asking for a new attack chopper that out performs all other air options vs ground targets.
Players were already complaining a lot about powerful air so what do Dice do, add an even more annoying chopper to the mix.

I still think being able to use the SOFLAM on it would be the right counter.
Using Rao's hacking is meh at best and completely ineffective at worst, it also reveals you're location to the heli pilot which pretty well guarantees you're gonna be the next recipient of his bomb load.

I think no matter what it still requires a team effort, just like anything else. You can have a Rao with a SOFLAM or AA to hack and switch but even if you get the one shot off it won't be enough to take it down.

If your team is not helping, then Rao is less usefull. But, not useless. You can't take it down. But you can consistently block and frustrate the pilot. This can help slow his attack runs and it still helps your team hold and defend objectives. It just doesn't do as much for your position on the leaderboard though, unless teammates help and shoot it down. The only reward for constant peek-a-boo is teamwork.
I've been almost exclusively running Rao and often with AA missle. Far too often I'm keeping consistent hack and getting 2-3 hits. But the rest of the team is doing absolutely nothing to help against the air. All it would take is another running AA missle or even SOFLAM, and then a couple infantry with recoiless to look up. Too many clueless players. I'm certain there are a ton of players that don't even realize the recoiless will lock-on to air when laser designated.

let the helo go ham for a few min, stop hacking and let people get killed, then when you see people start shooting at the helo start hacking again. they have to have a reason to shoot at it
