Great posts @Psychopski and @-DFA-Thump !
That Rebecka Coutaz expresses that DICE will focus entirely on Battlefield in the next 2-3 years to come is of course somewhat great news to the players who likes this game, as it should all everything equal increase the chances of us (the customers) getting something that actually works and is enjoyable, fun to play.
However, based on what they have been working on for the recent 3 years and the terrible poor and low quality outout we got from them, it is not by itself great news. From all the truly tangible stuff we have available to us, it indicates DICE have 100+ staff sitting making great sales & marketing splashes and YouTube videos. While only 1 developer is left to sit and try and stitch together some kind of minimalistic shooter game, picking off ideas from some other FPS games already released to the market by their competitors.
Many of the most experienced game designers, map and sound engineers and developers started leaving already during the end of BF1 development and it continued through the BFV game cycle. So the brain drain has been very substantial and it shows especially now in the BF2042 version, which is only a pale shadow of what a Battlefield game should be.
A bit hollow that moral speech there from Rebecka, as its solely EA/DICE that decided to speed ahead and release this disaster to the market, all while knowing very well that the contents was much sub standard. Proof of their dire state is the very minimal number of proper bug fixes we have factually seen since launch. And subsequent also the very very long delay from launch till the release of season1. And when it finally came, the extremely little new content we got from it...
No doubt that the BF2042 disaster has hit EA/DICE hard, further adding to the staff turnover, as many new hopefuls properly packed up to move on as fast as they had arrived. Currently EA/DICE have more than 40 roles still open just for the Stockholm office...:

Have you actually checked the job offers? 😉
With very few (I found 3 when skimming the offers) exceptions those offers are either for jobs not related to actual SW development but again for managers and the others (the majority of the offers) are for other companies that just name Dice in the text.
- LlamaWithKatana3 years agoSeasoned Ace@DuaneDibbley do not underestimate managing role in development process. It is still plays a big role. Especially when you need to make a plan and hit deadlines. Quality are on programmers and artists but making em all work in one direction is manager job.

I am myself an rather experienced C++ developer with almost 20 years of experience in the field. And sure, for project management you need a few good managers and POs and as developers having a good scrum master cannot hurt to shield you from management requests and to make sure you can do your job. 😉
But at the current state where there are no developers left, hiring new managers does not help.- LlamaWithKatana3 years agoSeasoned Ace@DuaneDibbley they can hire few extremely effective managers to fire those who is still there XD
Though I agree they should prioritise developers over managers and especially keep developers and not exchanging them for new blood.

Hi @DuaneDibbley ,
When just opening the same link again and I can see the list and numbers have changed somewhat, so seems a dynamic contents?? Try maybe then to search directly for 'electronic arts', as here think you get a more firm list:

And yes you are right, many of the roles are management positions, certainly in their title, and several also in their detailed description. Notice also that in Sweden in their Stockholm office for sure, they typically do not just call developers for developers. They tend to pamper it up with various superlatives to make it sound more pompous versus what it otherwise might be.
And you are right, an awful lot of mid level mgt and also higher management roles appear open. But again not surprising and also sign of the brain drain this meltdown has caused. And yes, its a watch-out that they dont just focus on getting more shouting managers on board but also more dedicated rowers to get the boat moving!
Illustration of classic holacracy, with too many managers and too few workers to produce:

sounds to me like dice had their future projects canceled and if they can't un * this situation they will be on the chopping block like westwood and countless other studios

Maybe, and deservedly so. Let's hope this is indeed the case. They have shown that they are unwilling (and most likely also unable) to fix the mess they made and listen to their customers. Up until now they only admitted was was so obviously true that they could not deny it. And are still lying as proven by the statement cited in the first post of thread. And not ONCE we heard 'We are sorry.' NOT ONCE!
I certainly hope BF2042 is the last BF out of Dice Stockholm and that the franchise will be given to a competent studio by EA in the future.
I don't think that it has to be Dice that makes the next BF game, as the current Dice is as much the 'Dice' we know and loved as any other random SW development studio.
