A rant!
Looking at the new "festive" skins, I don't understand EA Dice's thinking, do they think those new skins really fit into the tone of the world in chaos? Are we going to see a new skin for Michael K. Williams (R.I.P) character as a Christmas Elf with a cringe line added or something like that? I'm sure his family would love to see that. Do EA Dice think that we all have memory loss and that they think that we didn't see the short movie Exodus which had set the dark tone for the game?
This game is a joke now. Extremely bad launch with major performance issues on all platforms (for which there has been no apology), and on top of that, they are not really listening to community feedback. Sure, they are fixing some bugs and performance issues (these should have been sorted out well before early access launch btw) but when it comes to actual features which have worked well that have been in the BF franchises that they've removed, and when they get feedback on those missing features, EA Dice responds with half hearted implementations of those features. Example, end of Round scoreboard, when we asked for a scoreboard, and we haven't seen that yet.
I bought this game because of Battlefield, not because it was COD or Fortnite or a game similar to that. If I wanted to play those, I would be playing those right now and not be ranting in this forum. Never have I regretted buying a game before, especially £90 for early access. But now for the first time I'm definitely regretting buying this game. I don't even think I can get a refund even if I tried.
This will be my last Battlefield game, and I don't think I'll be playing this for game much longer. Battlefield Bad Company 2 was the game that got me hooked. I loved the destruction, the audio design, the map design, the vehicles & weapons, the classes. All of that good stuff that every other game at the time didn't have. This game actually made me quit playing COD and got me playing this franchise and no other franchise to this day. But soon I will call it quits on BF2042 and got back to BF4 & BF1 because they are genuinely better and more immersive games.
Battlefield 2042 doesn't feel like a Battlefield game. It's a poorly attempted shameful clone of games like Warzone, Fortnite, Overwatch and Apex. It's sad to see the player numbers dwindle in such a short time (steam numbers) and I really cannot see it lasting more than a year and a half. Unless they drastically change the current state of the game.
I haven't even delved into the lack of game modes, lack of weapons, and the lack of squad/team play which is an effect of the classes being replaced for the dumb specialists.
That's it.
P.s I'm complaining about this game because I paid £90 for it. I invested my hard earned money into a product that should have at the very least met my expectations. It has not. If this was a free to play game, I wouldn't be here complaining.
There is no 'dark tone' to the game here is the official launch trailer to the game its all about memes lol....

The launch trailer is like it's deliberately trolling the community, maybe revenge for BFV

https://youtu.be/FJVCfhLEYdo This is the Exodus short movie. Dark tone to the current state of the game.- 4 years ago@Arfan76 Yeah I agree with what your saying. But the point I was making is since that original dark tone was shown in August, they changed the official launch trailer to a comedy meme game.
It's like they suckered people in with a BF game, then on launch showed the true colours of the game they had created- ElliotLH4 years agoHero+
Heads up for everyone that I've merged some other topics about the skins with this one.

Yea, I am not a very uptight player. I didn't care when they added female soldiers and such in previous titles as some did. I am a history buff - a big one in fact, but I was able to look past it in a video game. In this game, I have enjoyed it and didnt mind most of the changes they made. I try to go along with the design as long as its fun. In other words - it takes a lot for me to start really gunning the developers over issues.
These new skins though, I am just honestly flabbergasted. When I saw screenshots of them going around I 100% said to myself "Wow someone put a lot of effort into these meme's." I never even considered that they were legitimate, until I realized they actually were 100% legit and in the game. I sat there kind of stunned for a moment. The ONLY thing that finally came to my mind is HOW ARE THEY SO OUT OF TOUCH? Not a single person said "this is a terrible idea, we are about to get massively roasted if we release this". I'm just utterly baffled at how out of touch this move is. I touched on the issue of being out of touch back in disucssions about the decision to remove the scoreboard and similar issues. I typed paragraphs trying to come up with some explanation, to try and understand the developers perspective on the issue. Rather than blast developers I tend to always try to ask myself "What is there intention with this change...there has to be one" I try to never just assume that developers are anything short of very smart, educated, and passionate people who devout hours of their lives to make these products. I try to first assume they had to have very good reasons for things. Maybe it is because these skins finally have just sort of pushed me over the line, but I am just baffled and feel there is just no explanation to be had anymore. They are simply massively out of touch with their players. I HAVE to believe that they knew this would befuddle and * off many players; particularly their older players. The only possible explanation I can even come up with is that they are simply marketing this game toward a younger audience. These skins just scream that they want a piece of the fortnite success, or a piece of the black ops flavor of CoD. I tells me they just dont feel they dont feel confident they can make a straight military warfare game anymore on its own merits. The thing that they so clearly miss however is that as soon as you go down this road you * off or otherwise alienate the vast majority of your playerbase.
Im just so baffled. I just imagine sitting in a meeting and the topic of these skins coming up, if such a thing would even come up in a meeting. If I am sitting in this meeting, as soon as they pop these things up on the big screen I am chuckling to myself, and then I quickly say "we can not release that guys.....you will be laughed out of the building if you drop that in the game" I am not a game designer and I could have seen that coming a mile away. How do they not see these things coming? Perhaps they do and still proceed........If that is the case then I really do not get it. Risk the anger, meme's, being made a joke, diminishing your brand, for what greater purpose? If you cant tell I am trying REALLY hard to find justification from a developers perspective. I just really do not want to believe that they are THIS out of touch. If I am the digital artist who designed this tank skin....The whole time I am working on this skin I know my work is about to be made a complete joke. I just know that before I even start. So Why ? What greater purpose or reason are they chasing with design decisions like this?

I get the feeling DICE still holds a grudge against the Battlefield community after BFV. Battlefield has lost it's identity, completely abandoned it's core audience, and is just copying everything Fortnite/CoD does because DICE is a follower, not a leader, in the games industry.
The million dollar question is, does the AAA market have room for a CoD clone? DICE just bet the farm on it.
Please excuse me while I cancel my subscription to EA Play.
