This is just absolutely horrible.
I've been trying to give BF2042 the benefit of doubt, but how they can be so entirely off from the aesthetic the majority of players and fans want is beyond me.
They didn't need market research, they experienced all the backlash BFV got in its reveal trailer, and then beta, and then released game for having silly cosmetics.
Then their first new assets to be added is a frigging Santa outfit? Is there not a single developer on the team that has consistently played the games in the series?
Was there not someone who could have red flagged this for being totally tone deaf or seeming like trolling the player base whilst your game is full of bugs.
I'm usually all for new content, but this is exactly the opposite of what we want and need.

I absolutely agree with what you're saying. But I think the people to blame are at higher levels of management deciding the direction. I'd say (I don't know but I'd guess) a lot of the actual developers, certainly those still there who were involved in earlier instalments, hate to see what is being done to the franchise as much as we do.
