Directional audio, footsteps, soundstage

I've recently invested in a new audiophile standard audio set up to primarily focus on footsteps, directional audio imaging and soundstaging for FPS games and I'm blown away. It's literally like having wall hacks.

I'd be interested to find out more about what people are using for audio on this forum and what settings in game you feel are best.

I'm will to share my setup to anyone interested.

  • The footsteps in 2042 are generally really good.

But, explosions or things that deafen you will completely negate the former, and that is by design.

Obviously the sound can get broken from time to time but in general I think it's really good.
Depending on what way you look and what's around you, you can really pinpoint audio sources.

    The vehicle sounds, however..
    Are just trolling by DICE.

It's been like this since the start too, with absolutely no changes.

"Oh yes, I hear that vehicle, it's 100 meters away. I'll continue doing what I'm doing here and then I'll make eyes on it, and decide what's next."

    SPLAT!!!

"Oh, it was 5 meters away.."

    Just trolling, honestly..
    Can't be anything else.

@Gibl3tsJust played Haven and people comes running behind you without making any sound at all, the footsteps are totally broken much of the time. This is an old Frostbite-issue, but it seems like it's gotten worse compared to BF1 and BFV.

The sound is almost as bad as in BF4, where footsteps where inaudible much of the time.

Having explosions and other things deafen you are perhaps realistic, but it makes for bad game-play. The game is so unnatural regarding movement and gadgets (zip-lines, wingsuit, wallhack-scans, hacking soldiers etc etc) and "removing" sound just makes the game more frustrating to play.

    Is that even possible ?

Got the "GEEKRIA Boom Mic Headphones Cable" finally, my G6 DAC Amp won't properly amplify it so I can barely hear it, going back to the Mic I already have. Will keep it just in case.

    Appreciate the help!

@sk1lldWow man, that's really strange! I just googled the G6 having mic issues and it seems you're not the only one.

The 'Fosi Audio K5 Pro' DAC/AMP should fix your problem for half the price of a 'Schiit Hel Plus' but obviously means spending more money. These are only compatible with PC and PS5 though.

    What platform are you on?

    I'm on PC.

Why I'm saving the cable, a new DAC amp is in the future! Will look into both suggested above but this one just works, so hard to pull the trigger just yet.

@sk1lld I feel guilty for recommending something that doesn't perform for you. My minds more at ease knowing you're saving it for a new future DAC amp though. 😊

    @I_DYN4MO_I

You have done good by me, I have been looking at another DAC Amp for a while, because this one works, I have a problem pulling the trigger on a new one.

Keep suggesting, you're doing a good job.
