DMR's and snipers faar too accurate.

Feel like the DMR's are dominating most engagements, especially with the long engagement distances. Minimal bullet drop as well

DMR and SR are fine. Bloom on AR and LMG ADS is either bugged or broken.

  • I am very sympathetic to the feelings you have about DMRs and sniper rifles.
But perhaps the real problem is that the recoil of ARs and LMGs is too great and sometimes those bullets fly in apparently unnatural directions.
This is why I believe that SMGs, with their small recoil, and DMRs and SRs, with their ability to accurately fire at enemies regardless of distance, feel stronger.

No matter how wide the range of weapon customization is, I think the game has a fundamental distortion in every aspect of balance, which further narrows down the few options available.

  • This was always going to be a polarising issue, but personally I think the problem lies not with SRs and DMRs, but with the bloom that has been applied to ARs, MGs, and SMGs.

Snipers and Marksman rifles feel too powerful at mid-to-long-range to some people right now because they haven't had bloom applied to them, and as such don't suffer the effects of sustained fire like their full-auto counterparts do.

I'm not sure the reasoning behind DICE adding bloom to automatic weapons but even I think it needs to be removed immediately, and I main sniper rifles.

For those of you unsure of what bloom is, by the way, it's a mechanic that, in essence, applies a random accuracy penalty to each shot after a given period of time. You might be firing straight for the first second or so, but will then experience a random and dramatic decrease in accuracy, even while ADS, after that time. For close range engagements it isn't too noticable, but as you move further away, it's very noticeable.

As a sniper veteran going as far back as Bad Company 1, I can tell you that sniping in this game feels fine, in fact I'd go as far as to say that the first sniper you unlock is quite unfriendly to people new to the sniper playstyle as it has poor damage and utterly abysmal bullet velocity until you get the right attachments.

Again, I think your issue is the fault of bloom. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes DICE to get rid of it, it doesn't really belong in first person shooters.

Yeah the bloom definitely needs to go. The recoil is already pretty excessive, applying a high degree of randomness per shot is overkill. This is one thing Battlefield 5 did really well, even with recoil, the bullets would go where the gun is pointing, very little randomness.
