I've seen a bunch of players simply standing at spawn throughout the match. Then I've noticed the players in my squad won't even spawn throughout the match. Leaves me in a kinda ghost squad where I'm the only one spawning. Did they remove the idle kick?
I heard when the round is over players are automatically put back into matchmaking. Probably explains a lot of AFK players. Or AFC for console players (away from controller).
Or as kregora said, they get idle kicked and automatically put back into matchmaking. Over and over again.

idle kick only works efter spawn, you can just sit and wait for your favorite vehicle to come available or walk the dog or whatever in meny

How otherwise are EA to keep showing so impressive high player population numbers for the BF2042 AOW game area! 😂
However, if you need to go for a bio-break while hosting your own portal server, then you are kicked after 3 mins idle time...
I've got no clue how the idle kick feature works, but I've certainly witnessed friends be AFK for the entire duration of a game (30 minutes) without being kicked, and on the other end where friends have been kicked after AFKing for 5 minutes.
This has been across new games, games that have already been started, even if they havnt been squad leader, lobbies full of players, lobbies full of bots.
Even had a friend fully AFK for a hour across two games of breakthrough and he was never kicked for the game itself.**
