Does anyone like the current matchmaking system in 2042? We've been giving DICE feedback about matchmaking since BFV, but they went ahead and put matchmaking in 2042 without changing anything about it.Do you think we'll get the exact same matchmaking system in the next Battlefield game too? The idea here is to keep everyone together which allows lobbies to have a map rotation and social experience.Map rotation - when a match ends, everyone in the 128 player persistent lobby advances together to a different map than the one they were just playing on. No more playing the same map over and over!Reasonable wait times - I know player population plays a role in wait times, but if the population for certain regions is low and players are waiting a long time. Then either matchmaking needs to connect them to more populated regions with a higher ping time, or the minimum required players to start a match needs to be lowered. Matchmaking can continue to fill matches that are already underway.The lack of reasonable wait times is currently severely harming 2042 and causing it to bleed players at an accelerated speed. Players get fed up with waiting more than a few minutes to play a game, so they go play something else instead.

Nobody liked it when they trialed it in BF5. It killed Battlefront 1 and 2 long before they should have died and 2042's iteration is DOA... So naturally Dice Sweden will double down instead of admit they were wrong about it.Matchmaking is fine for RTS, MOBA and small scale shooters. It doesn't work for large scale games like Battlefield and Battlefront.

@RayD_O1 I also liked sorting by ping. The game experience is completely different when you are on a sub 70 ping server vs 250. With this new MM, I have no clue until I am in game and then understand why I am being killed behind cover.So ping, game mode, map, and player total were easy filters. If there were no servers in that criteria, I opened it up a little bit. I can't do any of that with MM. I just sit in a queue in Quake squad hoping to not get the same map for the 6th time in a row.

i think they have definitely proven that they will ignore us on MM and do what they want

the difference between BF1 and BFV compared to 2042 is mainly the former both have a server-browser. like it or not a server browser lets you pick the map you want to play on top of both BF1 and BFV do not force you back into their flipping main menue every 25ish minutes and you have 0% chance of playing the same map repeatedly if you stay in a server, unlike 2042 where my personal record was 4 rounds of hourglass back to back..... needless to say i stopped playing several weeks ago and do not plan to waste anymore of my time here until the april patch maybe if i even want to return

It is a blatant cost-saving measure for a franchise that no longer meets EA profitability expectations.

the difference between BF1 and BFV compared to 2042 is mainly the former both have a server-browser. like it or not a server browser lets you pick the map you want to play on top of both BF1 and BFV do not force you back into their flipping main menue every 25ish minutes and you have 0% chance of playing the same map repeatedly if you stay in a server, unlike 2042 where my personal record was 4 rounds of hourglass back to back..... needless to say i stopped playing several weeks ago and do not plan to waste anymore of my time here until the april patch maybe if i even want to return

@OskooI_007i don't think they will do it. They added XP to Portal to see if there would be a bump in player count. There are maybe 200-300 more players active now than were the same time last week via Steam. This was also a patch week and they brought the weekly mission back.

200-300 players (on Steam) doesn't count consoles or Origin, but is a good percentage of PC players. Maybe 20-25% overall total. So there are maybe 10K-12K active players on at any given time. That is too low to making persistent servers and a Server Browser.

@Adamonic Would have been nice to be told about the changes to Portal... only found out today. Also ignore steam player count numbers their return policy meant most people could refund their purchase so they have the lowest numbers.

Don't hold your breath for a server browser going forward Vince hasn't released a game without auto match making since Black Ops 1. BLOPS2 was auto server, Titanfall has the worst match making in gaming history that's why it failed.

Auto servers work fine if there are players but once the player base falls below a threshold they just leave you with one full server and not enough to start the second. This is what happened to Star Wars Battlefront. The server browser helps with small player bases so you can build server populations over time. But EA aren't interested in small player bases with there big games so don't ever expect server browsers again.

There won't be a next Battlefield game. Hell there is not even a CURRENT Battlefield game (unless you consider BF5 as the 'current' one),
In any case, we have made concrete and easy to implement proposals on how to improve the situation right now, with almost zero effort on their end. We have asked them to do that now or at least tell us, why not. They chose to remain silent. So no, for some inexplicable reason they DELIBERATELY and CONSCIOUSLY decided to make the gaming experience as miserable as possible. If there were ever a new BF, then yes, they will bring back MM and also try to invent some other things that ensure that the next one will then definitely be the last one.

(Playing "Hourglass" three times in a row is realy no fun....)

Sums up my feelings entirely, my personal record was 4 rounds of Discarded back to back which although preferable to Hourglass is not something I want to be doing.
We need to be able to stay on the same server and play through the full map rotation. stay with squad etc, rather than this back and forth to lobby garbage we have currently/.
I would accept BF1 / BFV set up any day over this MM mess.
It would help if they implemented the @DuaneDibbleyproposal asap : concrete and easy to implement proposals as this would allow map rotation and be a big improvement over what we have now.
BF2042 should have launched with the a proper Server Browser / Persistent Servers set up as MM is definitely not up to the job and needs replacing asap.

I have noticed everyday that they only play a few maps. I usually play for example discarded then orbital and then it repeats itself. And that goes for all AOW modes.
