It is a blatant cost-saving measure for a franchise that no longer meets EA profitability expectations.
I think you're exactly right. There is no logical reason to NOT give us what we are asking for: A server browser. UNLESS that server browser increases hosting costs.....
In which case, we won't be getting a server browser. Money is more important than anything else.
Little do they know, joke is on them. They have alienated millions of people who will never buy another Battlefield and hopefully EA game ever again.

It appears possible to have persistent lobbies with a map rotation on Amazon's GameLift service using FlexMatch.
"Solved my issue by splitting the lobby into two tickets. Then match those two tickets together using an attribute in the ruleset"
Simply retrieve the player IDs of everyone in the game session when the match ends. Feed the player IDs from each team into two seperate FlexMatch tickets, then match those two tickets together. Boom, persistent Battlefield lobbies.
Add some code so the persistent lobby switches to the next map in the playlist. Boom, persistent lobbies with a map rotation.
So there you go. Persistent lobbies that work with Amazon's FlexMatch matchmaker system, work with Spot Instances, and work with GameLift's autonomous scaling features.
