Battlefield is in an unfortunate position. EA now lives and dies by the hype and pre-orders. Every game is tied to revenue and profit and not customer satisfaction.
So they release games that are minimally viable at the time of release and they use bug fixes and patches as updates.
In order to increase their profit margin, they have to reduce labor (developer hours) to a point that ensures they are profitable.
That is exactly why they pulled the plug on BF2042 literally a month after launch. We had a 6+ month gap with nothing while the skeleton crew broke down the original Season 1 content into 4 seasons. Then they finished partially made maps and released them one by one for Seasons 5-7. Also, remember no new Specialists after Season 4.
They are clearly repeating the same process for the next title.
I have a funny feeling they are going to add something else to pre-orders to entice people to buy it. Normally it is early access or something like that. I bet they add some exclusive stuff like a weapon or attachments that you can only get thru pre-order. Pay to win. That would be dirty, but all they care about is the pre-order quarter revenue.

Maybe a super duper weapon charm.
