EA separates Entertainment and Sports

EA have just announced they are splitting Entertainment (BF, Apex, Star Wars, etc.) and Sports devisions.

I wonder what this means for Battlefield, specifically, for the future. This is a common corporate restructure prior to selling off a division.

I think the Sports division is probably the fastest growing, most profitable division, so the Entertainment division is the most likely to be (potentially) hived off.

Wonder if Sony have expressed an interest in EA (or part thereof) following Microsoft's interest in Activision?

Interesting days ahead!

  • @UP_Hawxxeye sounds very plausible - the Sports division would be more profitable than the Entertainment division. Would EA invest more in a less profitable division? I wouldn't.

This also makes each IP more important to the new groups. So if Battlefield has another failed game, the IP is probably done.
