They should not have released a broken game. Plain and simple, I would have waited another year and continued playing bf4 just like we are now anyways over playing a game with as many issues as this has. Indie games are doing better than this multimillion-dollar empire.

You're right. I shouldn't expect basic features like a scoreboard to be included in a full price AAA game at launch. That's a brutal expectation.It's also a brutal expectation to expect these devs to have discussions about "legacy features" before launch and not afterIt's also a brutal expectation to expect them to consider whether or not these heroes not only belong in Battlefield but to consider if their awful jokes and quips should existSorry for being so demanding

unfortunately my issue is that they just are not taking responsibility for the mess they delivered us. I mean really half the guys who are pissed about the game being broken would probably be cool with a "hey guys we see this game was not ready for release, but we are working on getting it to a playable condition" (insert ROADMAP) Its just being stupidly managed, its not that hard to keep gamers happy

The problem isn't that they didn't communicate or release updates over the holidays, its the game itself. I can't see any amount of patches and balancing making this feel like Battlefield instead of COD (although with the current state COD Modern Warfare did it better).

I can see this from both sides. On one hand, you have someone who is thinking about their employees who I have no doubt have been working hard and were likely promised a much deserved rest. They are also being realistic about some peoples expectations that things can simply be added and changed to the game in short order. They are obviously considering a lot of the feedback in including those "legacy features" the game was missing from the start. ....but they need to weigh what is possible, what to prioritize, how it fits into their vision of the game, etc. Right, wrong or indifferent, they need time. On the other hand, you have consumers, paying customers who are upset and rightly so. When you cut through the BS insults and irrational remarks, there is a lot of good feedback to be heard and fair statements about how EA/DICE have let down their fans. Some feeling cheated and misled. EA/DICE could communicate better IMO and quite frankly, I see the posted remarks a little off-putting. I get standing up for your employees taking a holiday break but they are not running a charity here. They took peoples money and if there weren't problems with the game, we wouldn't be having this conversation now. ....they could handle the fallout better IMO. They could keep people clued in on what is being worked on, etc. to help let them feel involved and appreciated. Personally, I never liked their vision for BF2042 and still don't. My friends and I only bought the game because of Portal and quite selfishly, that's really what I want to see come through all this and thrive. If the other elements of BF2042 get fixed to others satisfaction, that's great but personally, it doesn't matter much to me as I simply don't see the other parts of the game being changed to the point I would be interested in playing AOW, HZ, etc. It's too far gone from the formula I grew to love to be honest. If it wasn't for Portal, I would made a hard pass on this game as I intended to do the first time I saw the reveal.Anyhow, that's how I see it.

Testing complex software is often carried out on a risk based cost/benefit basis depending on the criticality of the specific software.

All your examples come at a cost that may be deemed excessive for the development team.

@AOD_moose004 Remember where I read the example, it was used during a 'really interesting' Engineering Safe Products course, basically a risk assessor's course in a segment about software and what you say is spot on although it's not just time, its money too.

A half made game is a subjective assessment on this, as I stated before, BF4 and BF3 were completely broken at launch and continued for an extended period of time, this was no where near that type of disaster. They didn't claim they were on vacation, they were on vacation. They have traditionally shut down during that time frame, back in early December many articles writing about when a next patch will come out stated the DICE will be on shutdown, hence why many were pleasantly surprised when I patch came out before January.
You may not like it, but they are humans too and deserve a vacation just like the rest of us. Sorry if it doesn't fit your expectations, but hell if you don't think it is right, I challenge you to forgo all your vacation time this year and see how it feels.

It was the same problem with BF4.

Remember, this is not some grunt-level code monkey or artist or QA guy that posted this, it's an EA middle manager...and what's worse, I assume since he's "head of communication" or whatever, he's a PR guy by trade. Talk about a self-inflicted L.

Seems like the community wants Battlefield to be like a new COD release where it's the same game just with new textures.
While there is some good constructive criticism and feedback the majority of the "Share price is falling = good" and "i'll never buy an EA game again" need to * off and have their posts deleted.
