@RayD_O1 wrote:Based on your experiences MM would appear not to be applying a region / ping lock then.
As you say we need to revert back to the previous system.
Correct @RayD_O1 ,
Now we don't know the exact Match Making Rules that may have been coded into the system, but it is definitely not a hard lock, that blocks different regions from being merged in with each other. Because that has been confirmed already not to be the case. But maybe there are some business logic that first try as priority to put players together within the same region. And then if not available to start a server with aka 50% of all players ready, then it maybe opens up for also pulling in out of region players that are in same situation in their own region?
Again, simple things that EA ought to have shared the description of with us. But instead they have stayed totally silent on this, despite that this was indeed as highlighted by @Trokey66 at the very top of the wish list from BF veterans. And similarly brought up as a concern when we went through the technical playtesting and the beta periods...
Probably jumping to conclusions, but the very fact that the server session and the associated players are only kept alive for one single game round, and then kicking all players back out in the lobby after each round, for then again to repeat the whole match making process is not a good sign. And moreover, the fact the player is not even put into a sequence of rotation between the different maps, is a further bad sign. Namely bad signs on that not much deeper thought, rationale or logic has been put into this function at all. So expect no business rules have been applied either in the matchmaking routine in the code. Not at present time for sure...
Again, none of this would be needed anyway, if we all just played the Battle Royal game that BF2042 was intended to be from the get go.
A few messages from a few random players does not make it proof positive.
Fact is we don't know how MM works and because issues certainly seem to be regional from far more sources than yours.
You could be right but I suspect region plays a part in all this perhaps not in the exact way I have described but is a factor.
Again, I wouldn't totally discount it on the basis of a few messages.

At this point in time we can't be sure exactly how MM is working.
The only thing I am sure of is that MM is not working satisfactorily for the many players who are asking for a proper server browser system.
I personally don't believe MM will ever be up to the job unless it is used exclusively for the quick match option alongside a proper server browser / persistent servers system for those who want to play and stay on servers of their choice.
Imho DICE need to act on this asap before BF2042 loses any more players who are leaving either because they can't get into the game or are sick of playing the same map over and over etc....
- frekwalda14 years agoSeasoned Ace@RayD_O1 Well the forums would not let me post the breakdown of MM vs Persistent Servers from Amazon Serversthat they use for this game but here is the link.

The lobby is not the way to go, especially for those who used to host their games and play together with small groups.
The lobby is a good solution for competitive, 5vs5 ranked games. 64 player Conquest as a lobby match is nada, no, zero incentive to play any longer. Not to mention a complete lack of any social aspects of the game. Everything comes down to sprint competitions against mass AI farms.

If DICE continue to force MM on the BF community then as far as I am concerned it will be the death knell for the BF series.
As you mentioned it is managing to destroy the social aspect which in turn is driving players away in droves.
Sadly BF2042 no longer looks or feels like battlefield in any shape or form.

@Priv8Ryan wrote:There is a sort of browser but in portal for the older maps i have found
Yes indeed, the problem is Portal has turned out to be a major disappointment for most players. ☹️
It has had many issues including XP caps and progression restrictions so is now full of mostly empty servers.
Imho BF2042 needs a proper server browser / persistent servers in AOW just like previous BF's and there are many players on many threads on this forum calling for MM to be replaced asap.

Agreed
- RayD_O14 years agoHero@Priv8Ryan We all just need to keep pushing for DICE to bring a proper server browser / perisistent servers to AOW by posting here daily.
- frekwalda14 years agoSeasoned Ace@RayD_O1 I've been going to portal to play TDM and Rush as it is the only place i can play in this game that is not buggy and laggy and as I have not been able to get into a AOW server since Dec 3rd with cross play off.

DICE needs to sort this urgently before the player base shrinks even further.

Server Browser is a must. MM is broken, just apply it to the server you join and place you on the team that is more appropriate for your skill level.

Totally agree, Server Browser is definitely a MUST and should never have been removed.
DICE we need you to bring it back SOON. !!

Anyone on here know if there are any Australian Squads or platoons for this game

@Priv8Ryan wrote:Anyone on here know if there are any Australian Squads or platoons for this game
Sorry I am unable to help you on that.
Can I just ask are you able to join matches at the moment in your region.?
Yeah I can but not at all times during the day weekends are better or late afternoons I’m in east coast Australia

Thanks, so its a combination of drop in player numbers / MM issues.
- JarskyPlays4 years agoNew Ace
Yeah I live in New Zealand, unfortunately the only game that exists before ~7-8pm our time is 128p CQ.
It's currently 7:39pm here and I still cannot get into a 64p BT game (128p BT has been non existant for weeks).
- RayD_O14 years agoHero@JarskyPlays Hopefully if DICE introduce a Server Browser system you may be able to find matches easier. Lets keep pushing to have MM replaced .
- RayD_O14 years agoHero
DICE you really need to replace MM asap so all players can access the game. !
- frekwalda14 years agoSeasoned Ace@RayD_O1 Yep still having the problem of not getting into a AOW server unless I turn on cross play then it is unplayable. When i go to Portal and play TDM or Rush with cross play on can play no problem. But i would like to turn cross play off and play on a server. I am in Northern Canada and play on a PC. As I usually play late at night for a few hours after work, so i usually miss peak times for my area.
Just so you know my internet speeds are 1GB and test my speeds a lot when i see problems and usually it is not my end but server side.
A Few years ago when EA servers were directed though a 3rd party host server and hop a few times from a certain server provider it would cause problems. For the life of me can not remember the provider. Wondering if some of this is causing connection issue beside the low player count in certain regions. - RayD_O14 years agoHero

I am UK based and a PC player, I had to turn on crossplay a while back as the waiting times in the lobby were annoying me with crossplay turned off.
As I have mentioned many times I think the only solution is to replace MM so we can all choose the servers we play on.
Hopefully DICE responds favourably to our requests.
- RayD_O14 years agoHero@frekwalda1 Please keep highlighting your issues regularly so we can keep the pressure on for DICE to give us the Server Browser / Persistent Servers we had in previous BF's.
