EOD Bot Remote resupply/loadout swap from crate

Is this supposed to be a thing?

I drive up on Angel's crate to go kill an enemy resupplying, and as I go to zap them, it opens up the resupply window. So just for fun, I decide to change my loadout from 500m away, and it works. 

So is the EOD Bot supposed to be able to change your loadout at crate at any location on the map? That just seems odd since the weapon would have to teleport to you from Penguin Central.

So an Engineer can park an EOD bot at a crate, go anywhere and have unlimited resupplies?

    I look pretty comical following Angels around the battlefield waiting for them to drop a crate, and of course, they don't. Just tried several times, and now no one is dropping crates. Ugh. Will try to test Boris and Crawford, but I suspect it will work because it is the same gadget.
