Faction specific skins for readability

I've had a lot of fun playing the game. The one thing that drives me crazy though is that specialists on opposing teams look visually identical. I might see a team member's name-tag near an enemy and have no way of knowing if that is an enemy player or not. The UI indicators alone are simply not enough, and even add to the confusion when the conflict gets dense (which is kinda the point of BF).

I think this can be solved fairly easily by introducing faction-specific styled skins to prevent the same skinned players from ever existing on both sides. Every military FPS including previous BF titles did this, and for good reason.

Would it make designing crazy player skins harder down the road? Yes, but this defuses a MAJOR gripe about specialists that can sink this title if left un-checked.

  • They put bright red reflectors/lights on their clothing and a red marker above their head, I have not experienced any issues with identifying enemies.

yeah it's not that hard.  and I even think sometimes getting it wrong adds to the excitement and keeps the player on their toes.

@Rocks1tI think they should even go one step further and utilize different models for the different factions.

That might be the case for you, not going to argue that.

I usually play in Hardcore mode in previous titles, where the player skin is typically a major deal for target aquisition.

Speaking for myself and the few friends, pixel hunting for an easily obscured red light on the enemy player that otherwise looks identical to your teammates is immersion breaking and jarring. We sidestepped the issue by playing BF Portal mode, and the usual BF chaos felt a lot more fun.

Take it or leave it, but half my friends mentioned this specific issue as being a major contributor in their decision NOT to buy BF 2042!
