False positive bans
I just got a false positive banned from BF2042 this morning, while I was not even home... how is this even possible? I guess its rip my ultimate edition. I believe another user @Gryphonv got the sa...
Yes, the same thing happened to me.
I was banned on 14/Nov/21 4:37 PM UTC and got an email saying "We noticed that your Battlefield 2042 account has been involved in cheating, which violates our Positive Play Charter."
Since I know I didn't cheat, I was confused and pretty upset. Went and checked my EA account and confirmed the ban. Went ahead and put in a Dispute with the subject "Wrongful Ban for cheating"
Once I put in the Dispute, it became a waiting game. I decided to search around and see if this was happening to anyone else.
The only thing at the time I found was a video of a small streamer named Aimless Charlton, and the video is called "I Was The First Person BANNED In Battlefield 2042..."
The circumstances were similar to mine.
Kept doing some searching and found a few posts here with people having the same issue.
I found a post where OP had stated that he was wrongfully banned for cheating. He felt that in his case, it was due to some sort of mass reporting related to his performance being above average in-game. This is the same conclusion Aimless came up with.
Someone posted in that thread saying "All the conspiracy theories here are just plain silly.." insinuating OP was lying about his claims and the system was just too good to get it wrong...
The thread was closed and everyone in that thread having an issue with their wrongful bans were stripped away from communicating on EA's Official Forum and maybe figure out if something actually did go wrong and EA was handing out bans to fair players.
I was frustrated. But, decided to move on.
Today I received an email from EA Help saying "We saw some unusual activity on your EA Account" and "After noticing potentially suspicious activity associated with your EA account, we reset the password to protect your personal information" and my ban was overturned.
So clearly I wasn't cheating and something went wrong where they felt it was necessary to reset my account.
Everyone that I have spoken with that had similar claims to mine of a Wrongful Ban either haven't heard back, or did not get there bans lifted.
My case seems to be rare, so I wanted to post this so people know that it is possible for EA to get it wrong.
The system isn't perfect.
In my case, it was some sort of account security issue. It may be different for others...
@ReyMeroI'm glad you got yours overturned. I filled a second dispute and will keep filing them until they either overturn it or disable my account.
If i bought directly from EA I would do a chargeback and move on, but because I bought on steam if I do a charge back ill lose my whole Steam account.
Steam wont refund because I have over 2 hrs of playing.
I'm with you here buddy, I got banned the same time as @ReyMero Just different time zones. Of course the email said I cheated which is clearly not the case. I received a response today so 2 days from when I submitted my appeal saying that they did a full investigation on my account and they wont be revoking the ban. I already submitted another appeal stating to do another full investigation and to check for any unusual activity besides mines, I have already taken action to secure my account after the ban happened.
I run mostly the same apps the OP runs such as:
Logitech G Hub (Mouse)
ICUE (Keyboard and Headset)
Discord (BetterDiscord Version)
Geforce Experience (for recording gameplay)
Wallpaper Engine
I also have Opera browser opened on my second monitor for Youtube
I was also hit by that banhammer on Nov/14/21 4:37 PM UTC.
Unfortunately EA is refusing to reinstate my account on the grounds of cheating when, like many others, I know I wasn't. The TOS team doesn't seem to be going in depth with their "investigations" and so I've resorted to filing additional disputes and reaching out to Easy Anti-Cheat as well. I'm glad that RayMero got his ban lifted and it gives me hope for the others who were enjoying their time with this game. I can only hope that the software and the support team itself improves. Good luck everyone. If anything happens changes I'll post it.
@RaccoonOffender this has been the exact same time for me, 4h37PM last sunday. Definitely a glitch on EA's side.
I just received notification that no action will be taken on my account and it will remain banned. To say that I'm upset would be an understatement and I'm tired of this joke of a company. It was said that all further cases revolving my unjust ban will be ignored and promptly dismissed..
How is any of this acceptable? I can't believe just how tone-deaf this company is. To blatantly ignore your fan base and punish those who have wrongly been accused of cheating shows how little effort they put into customer relations.
I continuously asked for clarification, detail, or plainly a little more information regarding why I was banned yet they refused to provide anything outside of "deal with it cheater." I'm at a total loss and feel betrayed by what was my favorite franchise all because corporate overlords and overseas ToS teams can't get their heads out of their *.
Maybe I'll create a different account one day, but for now, this is as far as my Battlefield journey takes me.
* EA. Get your refunds while you can.
The helpdesk at this company appears to be understaffed.
