False positive bans
I just got a false positive banned from BF2042 this morning, while I was not even home... how is this even possible? I guess its rip my ultimate edition. I believe another user @Gryphonv got the sa...
Yes, the same thing happened to me.
I was banned on 14/Nov/21 4:37 PM UTC and got an email saying "We noticed that your Battlefield 2042 account has been involved in cheating, which violates our Positive Play Charter."
Since I know I didn't cheat, I was confused and pretty upset. Went and checked my EA account and confirmed the ban. Went ahead and put in a Dispute with the subject "Wrongful Ban for cheating"
Once I put in the Dispute, it became a waiting game. I decided to search around and see if this was happening to anyone else.
The only thing at the time I found was a video of a small streamer named Aimless Charlton, and the video is called "I Was The First Person BANNED In Battlefield 2042..."
The circumstances were similar to mine.
Kept doing some searching and found a few posts here with people having the same issue.
I found a post where OP had stated that he was wrongfully banned for cheating. He felt that in his case, it was due to some sort of mass reporting related to his performance being above average in-game. This is the same conclusion Aimless came up with.
Someone posted in that thread saying "All the conspiracy theories here are just plain silly.." insinuating OP was lying about his claims and the system was just too good to get it wrong...
The thread was closed and everyone in that thread having an issue with their wrongful bans were stripped away from communicating on EA's Official Forum and maybe figure out if something actually did go wrong and EA was handing out bans to fair players.
I was frustrated. But, decided to move on.
Today I received an email from EA Help saying "We saw some unusual activity on your EA Account" and "After noticing potentially suspicious activity associated with your EA account, we reset the password to protect your personal information" and my ban was overturned.
So clearly I wasn't cheating and something went wrong where they felt it was necessary to reset my account.
Everyone that I have spoken with that had similar claims to mine of a Wrongful Ban either haven't heard back, or did not get there bans lifted.
My case seems to be rare, so I wanted to post this so people know that it is possible for EA to get it wrong.
The system isn't perfect.
In my case, it was some sort of account security issue. It may be different for others...
