[Feature Request] Improve Spawn Screen

First off, thanks for all the work that's been done on 2042, its really improved the overall experience. I would love to see the following features added to the spawn screen in Battlefield 2042

NOTE: all of the following suggestions are from the perspective of the spawn screen.

[1] Map Zoom

  • Suggestion:
    • Allow the player to zoom in on the map before spawning.
  • Currently:
    • Hard to see friendly and enemy activity in some areas
    • Hard to select a specific target (squad mate or objective) to spawn on when they are in close proximity.
  • Improves:
    • Perceiving activity in a location with many players (on both sides). Especially in modes like Rush and Breakthrough.
    • Spawn selection in areas with a lot of activity (i.e. lots of squad members next to an objective)

[2] Improve Spawn Selection Indicator

  • Suggestion:
    • Improve the indicator of what the player has selected to spawn on.
  • Currently:
    • It is difficult to confirm whether a player has selected a squad mate or objective if everything is within close proximity.
  • Improves:
    • player understanding of what they have selected
    • reduces frustration caused by mis-selecting what to spawn on.

[3] Spawn Previews

  • The following previews are intended to be shown when selecting a squadmate, objective or vehicle to spawn on.
  • In conjunction with [2] Spawn Selection Indicator, it would show the specified information when selecting what to spawn on.

[3.1] Squad mate preview

  • Suggestion:
    • When clicking on a squad mate, preview a video feed
  • Currently:
    • Selecting a squad mate does not show any detail.
    • If you cannot spawn on them, it indicates "in combat", but this is unclear
  • Improves:
    • Showing details like health and class will give the player an indication of whether they need to spawn with a support class, or what kind of firepower to bring
    • a video feed will give the player an indication of how much danger there is and whether they should spawn even when the "in combat" status has dissappeared.

[3.2] Objective preview

  • Suggestion:
    • Indicate capture progress on an objective
    • Indicate how many players of each team is on an objective
  • Currently:
    • Spawn screen already shows that an objective is being captured
    • It is unclear how many players of each team are there
  • Improves
    • Adding an indicator of how many players of each team is on an objective (as if you were on the ground and viewing the HUD) will improve decision making of which objective to spawn on if many of them are under attack

[3.3] Vehicle preview

  • Suggestion:
    • Indicate vehicle passengers and positions
    • Allow player to choose which seat to spawn into
    • Indicate vehicle health
  • Currently:
    • Clicking on a vehicle does not indicate how many passengers are onboard, what seats they are in, the health of the vehicle
  • Improves:
    • Player's understanding of why they can't spawn / see exactly who is onboard.
    • Indicating the number of passengers as well as what seats they are in / what seat the player will spawn in / let the player select the seat they want to spawn in will reduce frustration of the player not understanding what they are spawning into.
    • Indicating the health will give the player an idea of whether it is safe to spawn and/or whether the player should bring a repair tool

[4] Friendly Base Unavailable Vehicle selection

  • Suggestion:
    • If a vehicle is unavailable because it is in play, the "in play" indicator should be improved by showing where the vehicle is on the map / who is in it (see the Vehicle preview suggestion).
    • If a vehicle is unavailable because it is on a "countdown"/"cooldown", there should be a countdown indicator
  • Currently:
    • The in-play indicator isn't always accurate
    • If a vehicle is unavailable, it is unclear of whether it is because it is being used or whether it is in a "cooldown" mode
  • Improves:
    • An indication of whether the vehicle is being used / where it is being used will indicate to the player why they can't spawn on it.
    • A countdown timer will reduce players becoming frustrated and "camping" the vehicle in the spawn screen / constantly clicking on the grayed out icon. If they know that it will take 3 minutes until it is available, they can spend their time playing the game instead of waiting.

[5] Gun stat quick view

  • Suggesion:
    • When hovering over a gun in the spawn screen, show the stats of the weapon
  • Currently
    • Choosing between a weapon in the spawn screen is difficult unless you know each gun well. Deciding between a two similar weapons is difficult without a brief overview of their stats
  • Improves:
    • This will allow the player to better compare which gun to use for which situation.

  • All great suggestions. Most of which was in one or more earlier Battlfiield titles at one point. Such a shame.

  • Spawn camping is a problem.   On the new map, the US side just camps in their zone with their weapons on E2 when it is held by opponent.   They just farm you as you spawn.   They arent even trying to cap the zone.

    This sort of play does not win a game.  It is solely stat packing for the scoreboard and trophies.  

    The fix is to give an 8 second battle immunity.   You cannot affect any other player or the game, they cannot affect you.   This at least gives someone a shot at getting in the game
