I think the community has said from the beginning that we do not care much for 128 players but went ahead and throw it into one of the more popular portal modes anyways lol. I wonder if this is a test to maybe actually throw these maps into the AOW rotation permanently since we have lack of content right now?
EA/Dice should have stayed with the foundation you guys have and kept using it. You have several other BF titles/contents that worked and were poplar for its time while also adding in new game changes per title over the years. All this could have been brought over into 2042 but fine-tuned and improved for the old/new experience of the BF franchise.
Personally, When I played the tech and beta test the 128-man games for something new and only on one map at the time, I thought it wasn't bad and didn't feel overwhelming, at times I couldn't tell there was 128 players in the server. It was honestly okay and was looking forward to new maps for launch but since launch my point of view has changed. Not so much of the over whelming odds and chaos at times in 128-man servers but it just doesn't work right with that many players technically.
The 128 players can get too chaotic quick back-to-back I tried flashback last night and did more running and dying trying to take bases because team is just rushing through and through repeatedly while the other team tails you. It felt almost mindless trying to keep up with everything going on, no balance. I don't want to play a COD where I meet players constantly and everyone trying to get a 6 k/d. I want to have some freedom and space to move while also getting into firefights if that makes sense.
There seems to be a more consistency, better performance in 64-man servers, than 128-man servers. It is just a different feeling in game play. I think for both server types more optimizations and fine tunning are needed.
