So what? This doesn't really say anything to us, nor by anyone important for that matter.
It is basically just another gamer (clearly not an EA or DICE employee) voicing his concerns over how the players who were supposed to give their opinions/feedback were more or less ignored by the developers...but that sort of thing has been going on in the industry since around 2003 now. It doesn't go into any real detail or specifics about ANYTHING. It's just another non-specific ranting, IMO.
What he says in the article is already very obvious without his comments. There is nothing revealing about it, and is what most of us who have played since the beta already realized. That the franchise is now in different hands and a different mindset than what it was previously. The new developers have a very different vision for BF and this has been painfully obvious for more than a decade now.... it's just become more obvious now to those who are slow to catch on.
To be fair to the devs, I am very grateful to at least have the bots back in the franchise, and also very grateful for Portal modes. I think it's pretty obvious that Portal was their way of supporting old school players who would not appreciate all the new changes. It doesn't have all the missing features that 2042 takes away but it does have some of the important ones, anyway, and that shows that they DO understand and they were not really ignoring feedback entirely.
The new young guns had their own set of new ideas and tried to back it up with a back door of sorts (Portal) in order to please most players... I see what they tried to do...but they went a bit too far by actually removing beloved features. You never REMOVE features from previous games unless those features were poorly received to begin with...and this is, as I see it, is mainly where they went wrong. They removed too many important things, like classes and server browser, team choice, etc.
Success=adding new options/features, NOT removing the old ones. Granted this was an experiment gone wrong...but Portal was the hedge...can you imagine BF2042 without Portal? Exactly, so lets at least be appreciative of it.
I happen to like SOME of the new changes they've implemented in the base game modes, but miss some of the aforementioned missing features and hope they can fix at least some of it this coming year by adding team choice and the unlock game to Portal (Portal already has server browser and classes).
- 4 years ago@BigShottt This is a pretty terrible take there bud. EA/DICE chased the APEX/Warzone/Siege fad and abandoned what made battlefield great. They did so fully knowing their intentions while selling the "we're bringing back the old school" message. To pat them on the * saying "good game" is just a poor idea and makes me question why you would support this level of deceit.

@-DFA-Thump You should re-read my entire post slowly.
I've already called them out for where I feel they went wrong. I do not "support", as you said, what they removed...and this is what YOU and most others are upset about.
To be fair though...which lets face it, most are not being fair in these forums...the game still does mostly feel like a BF game once you are playing in a match (not 128 players though which is too chaotic as I have been saying since beta where nobody listened) ... yet Portal makes up for alot of that, tbh.
As far as deceit is concerned, I'm sure you'll find their lawyers have made sure that all textual and verbal claims made by DICE during marketing cannot be legally construed for being deceitful... but that being said I can certainly sympathize with players (including myself) who feel mislead or misinformed in certain ways and are disappointed. But there is really nothing new about all this and has been the same rinse repeat BS going on within the gaming industry for the last 10+ years now.
As per usual I think that DICE will use the next 12 months to continue working on things as they attempt to improve and expand the game, while also re-implementing what they can at this point so that, in the end, the majority will be mostly satisfied.

It's all about money Dice/EA could not careless if you died tomorrow so get a grip.
Dice/EA have ditched the game already.
They will pay someone min wage to post blogs were on it.
Then out source the problems at a maximum cost and so nothing is sorted because maximum cost is pennies

- 4 years ago@-DFA-Thump I agree with BigShottt and think you have a pretty terrible take bud.
- 4 years ago@master_daffy83 You can be an apologist for them if you want, your call bud, just don't expect this BF or any future BFs to meet expectations beyond those set at a level they can roll over. They may have passed the "legal requirements" but they also do that with Fifa gambling mechanics so saying it will hold up in a court of law doesn't make it not deceitful. They knew how they were marketing it and knew that the base game (non-portal) would be no where near what BF has been in the past. To say that it's a loveletter to the olden days was about as close to a lie as you can get without actually fully lying (put in minimal content to meet a minimum threshold so as to not be liable in court).
