Honestly, I think that the game genre of battle royale will cease to hold the attention of next-generation gamers. The end of the honeymoon phase is fast approaching, and the future of battle royale as a genre relies on the next wave of releases to carry it forward. Where has the innovation been these last 9-12 months within those games? If the big publishers like Electronic Arts and Activision fail to deliver meaningful, new unique experiences this fall/winter, it could very well send BR to an early grave.
And personally I do not see Battle Royale to be fit for the Battlefield game as we know it. The repetition of dropping in and looting becomes extremely boring over time. Not only is the random placement of the loot frustrating. But doing the same thing over and over again at the beginning of matches drives most players insane. You spend many minutes waiting, spawning in, choosing a location, and looting before even thinking about engaging one’s first enemy.
All just for ending up with everybody just killing everybody else. It doesn't make much sense.
Team and squads working together is what it is all about and that is why Battlefield is something very different and much better!
Yes i agree but a battle royal mode will draw more players to the game and with portal editing there can be great innovation in battle royal
- Hello @gazgriff2k11
No info on any Battle Royale game mode at this moment. Keep an eye on the official Battlefield website for news about Battlefield 2042. 🙂

Imagine if EA charged like 60$ for a Hurricane/Tornado &/and for Lighting/thunder hahahaha
- @gazgriff2k11 I really enjoyed Firestorm! I hope they bring it back.
I have to disagree with some of the observations previously expressed, because Firestorm could change drastically from match to match. One match might be several players dropping on the same spot and a firefight quickly erupting. Other times, you might not see another player until you're near the end, with only a few players left standing. And unlike other BR games, the loot wasn't very hard to find, and you had a decent shot at winning as long as you were smart with your strategy.
Firestorm was the only BR game that I consistently played, because the others were more big-gun-wins types of games, or had poor movement mechanics, and many had a lot of bullet sponging.
I'll definitely play it again, if they bring it back. - @gazgriff2k11 The thing about Firestorm in BFV was unfortunately that Dice did it completely wrong...
They butchered the core gameplay of the maingame to accomodate a much hated Battle Royale gamemode in BFV like reducing squadsize from 5 to 4 ppl, having clunky loot-mechanics and much more.
I had no to little interest in the Battlefield BR as I thought Apex had a better lore, setting, maps, gamemechanics and first and foremost better support from the devs. All other BR were so much better in every aspect of the game compared to Firestorm.
Therefore... I understand there is a demand for a BR-game in Battlefield, but it should under all circumstances be a Free2play standalone gamemode, which should be available digital only.
Revenue could be made from selling seasonpasses at 10USD and ofc. through sales of cosmetics in game.
Battlefield as a franchise needs to know their place and focus on what they are best at: Providing a sandbox open arcarde shooter-experience NOT Battleroyale! - @DeeCay_DK_81 I completely disagree, and thought that Apex was way off-balance, and a pay-to-win, bullet-sponging game. But that's okay; play whatever gives you the most enjoyment. For me, it was Firestorm, and I hope it returns.
PUBG felt outdated, right out of the box (still does), and Warzone is nothing but a cheat-fest, anymore, and no longer playable. H1Z1 on PS was fairly enjoyable, at first, but it didn't stay that way for long, and it, too, felt similar to PUBG.
Firestorm was the only one that really kept me playing. - SirBobdk4 years agoSeasoned Ace

DICE have said you can't make a Battle Royal in portal, this would be due the lobby system that you need to make Battle Royal to work. And in my case Firestorm failed because I just couldn't get in a game for the first month after launch. Then when I did come back to it 6 months later it was lobbies of about 20 max and a minimum wait between rounds of 5 minutes.
All they had to do was drop the game to 32p and lose the first circle then the game would have worked on at least 10 of the stock maps. If they had given that a go and create a smaller faster paced BR experience and it might of hung in there.
