Footstep audio since 5.0
Ok I'm a BF vet. Purchased EVERY main BF gamed since Bad company 2 (even though I didn't play bf1 and bfv because I dislike the timeframe... I still purchased them to show love to the company though)...
@SkitzotechYou can use Sonar and other applications that are often just an equaliser, which reduces "other frequencies" than footsteps. Whether that is cheating is not for me to decide.
But still, my main issue is the inconsistent sound. Footsteps are sometimes not working at all and vehicles are a total joke (as others have stated).
Personally I use DTS Headphone X (combined with very neutral headphones). Dolby Atmos is ok, but is more 'Hollywood blockbuster movie' than DTS. I find DTS more neutral (frequency-wise) and has better positional audio, which makes footsteps sound clearer than using Atmos (or Windows sonic), this is probably mostly because of a less bassy sound in DTS (and Sonic has too much reverb).
In your footage there are no vehicles. Footsteps are mostly a problem when combined with nearby vehicles, the audio mix becomes very "muddy" at times.
I bought these $20 earbuds and I can hear way more footsteps than I could with any set of headphones.
