(For the real fans)Why not a hard copy edition for Ultimate

Not sure where the "For the real fans" comes from.

Whilst I understand wanting something tangible to hold, a digital library is far more convenient. 

I prefer disc versions, but it appears there won't be one for the Gold or Ultimate. I pre ordered the standard and will just purchase whatever content I will miss out on by not going digital. 

Basically I'll just miss out on playing a few days earlier. Not a deal breaker for me.

You are showing your age  @CyberDyme ! I've ditched all my game CDs and Music CDs after copying them to drives. I'm guessing you're 50+. I'm in my mid 60's, you have to roll with the times, and hopefully I don't need a collection of plastic to prove I'm a real fan. 

@ChugKendallAnd for some reason even PCs since 'Loss10' (windows) I had to do extraordinary stuff to have my CDs and DVDs work. So much better than constant 'Freedom'(TM/R) surveillance on the net.

There seems too much anti-competition going on under various nice narratives that make it look good or convenient. Getting something physical like CD/DVD back then even with occasional error/damage to the physical copy meant that you had to store it well. And it sometimes took up space like, once I had to throw out 300+CDs after that stuff was old and I decided that it was worthless and not going to return to it. But it was me who decided whether it became worthless or not, not some super-wealthy corp or some cartel that is out of touch with reality.

Matter of fact, I already 6+ years ago jailbroke a brand new PS4 Pro and instead installed a brilliant 2TB SSD drive into that as its primary drive, to make it super fast and totally silent.  And even purchased a new full digital Premium edition of the beloved BF4 game, which I until then had on physical disc only.

Like you, I moved all my old vinyl records and CDs onto software copies on NAS drives at home 10+ years back.

So no, it was actually not for myself I mentioned the commercial- and community opportunities that I think EA are missing big time out on...

I was thinking about the many many die hard fans and collectors of rare samples of various items, who are both eager and also willing to pay serious amounts of money for such items.

THAT is what I think is a shame, that EA are not doing much to promote their BF universe to these fans and such audience.

Like we just recent observed how EA totally missed the opportunity to promote BF and their brand at the Gamescom event!

It's there you also have great opportunity to commercialize your brand, the key franchises and their associated merchandise.

Events like:

- Gamescom.

- The Brasil Game Show in South America

- Tokyo Game Show

- ChinaJoy

- Spiel in  Germany, and like

- The San Diego Comic-Con!!!

Typically 150,000-400,000 people attending such events, and on top you have millions more following the events broadcasted live!

EA should have been all over the place to present BF there and have cool BF items to commercialize at same time at a Premium prize.
