Ironically, portal guns went from being redundant to being one of the best in the game. M16 and M416 are both good. But I do recommend trying A-91. This gun seems to work amazingly well for me. I've been looking for a gun to get another T1 with, and A-91 is on my chopping block right now. Got almost 400 kills yesterday evening. It feels really good. I use standard barrel and no underbarrel. Wrapped suppressor if I'm doing a flank, or laser if I'm going into big CQC fight. Other than that, 40 round mag, fusion holo sight and nothing else.
M5A3 I wouldn't say its the best gun, but I still find it very effective. I do have around 14 000 kills with it, so I am a little biased toward it.
@UP_LordPlumber yeah i noticed that portal weaps are better, i did try A-91 ( I think i needed for MTAR unlock or sometin ) it did its job yes but i think its not for me, but like you i want another weap T1ed
