Sorry I should have stated this in my first comment. I do agree it takes time to open the inventory screen to change attachments, I'm just not sure it was designed this way intentionally by PUGB Corp. developers. I say that because one can change weapons (from the ground) with all equipped attachments currently with no loss or delay.
The whole idea of this feature is a risk assessment, or two (million). I see how DICE might have came up with the idea (to give players more freedom), but I'm sure there are facts about how it functions I still know nothing about, so everything I think is per-speculation.
I like the idea of being able to change attachments on the fly, it will just lead to more epic moments. I'm 100% percent sure it will also lead to people abusing it somehow lol
DICE might have also done it to save points during gameplay to be honest over my first thought of freedom for the user and/ or both. A lot of new players like to die just to change gear, so this could also be a way to save tickets.

Animations contributed to making BF1 and especially BFV, less fun titles.
I hope they will get rid of as many as possible.
The only in battlefield moments are hamstrung by delays from exit animations

Those "only in BF moments" are a bit over hyped!

Then your individual gameplay is lacking, not the game.

From the way Jackfrags explained it, it works similar to the comm rose. The sniper elite series comes to mind, it only takes a couple seconds to select, but its countered by a "loading bar" as the switch is made so there's no instant weapon configuration.
I think DICE will use a similar approach, so swapping attachments isn't going to be something that can be abused because it essentially disarms you until it's done.
Not to say you can't swap to pistol in the middle of it. You can cancel the reload in BF4 by switching so it will probably be similar.

Let's not forget, BF4 allowed for 2 sights (an optic and a canted sight for example), lasers or torches on or off etc.
BF1 had different ammo types with the Burton.
This could just be a natural extension of that and may not be as bad as may be feared.
