Gunplay & recoil mechanics

So first of all I hope that they remove random bullet deviation and static middlescreen crosshairs. I mean this balancing concept is so ancient and 'gamey', it's time for innovation!

In the trailer we've seen very little gunplay, but I have noticed reticles move more freely and realistically, which is very nice!

I hope these reticle recoil patterns dictate and visualize the actual accuracy of guns. So for balancing reasons, if for instance we have a larger caliber/more lethal gun, it will have more violent reticle bounce. This sort of system would also make the guns feel alot more punchy and snappy!

Greets,

A very old BF fan who's interested coming back to the franchise.

@BaronVonGoon It’s quite funny how opinions differ so much.

That’s ok, I hope Dice can invent a good feeling and well balanced mechanic with some sense of realism.

I’m personally very much against the idea of going back to bf4 mechanics. Random spread just feels so annoying and it looks so outdated how the crosshairs are completely static and part of the hud.
  • I really jope its not like COD it looks and feels like it tho the Health bars and the Kill markers.

  • @-ExiLe_ZH Look you and I and the 1% of the community on forums and reddit who are experts on symthic and the gun mechanics know that the spread mechanics in BFV directly affect the gun sights and cause the sight to move more unpredictably than any Battlefield game ever.

But what about the 99% of the community? I played with over a hundred people since this game released and I've heard from MANY of them complaints than can be summed up with this general statement: "My gun sight keeps moving weirdly all the time and it doesn't feel like normal recoil, it feels unpredictable and throws my target entirely even in close range, it sucks when I die because of it".

There is nothing fun about a gun sight that 1) Randomly moves in different directions and 2) Cannot be controlled. You cant control horizontal recoil. The spread in BFV isnt even the normal horizontal recoil that is present in all Battlefield games, no, its ON TOP OF IT. Yes, hrec on top of hrec.

I'm all in favour of any new gunplay system as long as it has zoom behaviour that does not move in an unpredictable and uncontrollable manner because this is unfun gameplay. Players want their deaths to be their fault and want their kills to be because of their skill. Leave the random stuff for the occasionally fun gimmicky stuff, mortars, EOD bots, robodog, etc...

@BaronVonGoon So I have no opinion on BFV, I've never played it. I'm an old player who quit after BF3, which is a long ago. But I indeed was quite a meta guy and used symthic to know my stuff etc.

So for BFV I've read many mixed reactions in this very topic already. It slightly seems to lean towards the positive side of things, but I do understand your point. If that's indeed a popular complaint, then that needs improvement.

Anyways, the whole trick is to create patterns that don't feel too random, but still random enough where guns don't turn into 100% controllable laser beams.

Ok guys, this looks pretty good.

    1. There is some visual recoil, nice! but should be slightly stronger imo.

    2. Still can't tell where the bullets land, but if they land where that reticle aims (like it should be!), then the visual recoil definitely needs to be a bit stronger (to naturally create a slightly bigger area of spread).

    3. Viewkick or rather the lack of it kinda concerns me though. Could be that the guy is countering it very well, not sure.

  • Imagine playing it in VR?

    Its an suggestion/suggest it

These forums sure are on fire

DICE are pros they knowe what there doing

Keep doing that &/and definitely they'd

Nail'd it not to worry about
