Not sure what you mean about "very little support" for Portal. The game just launched and they are far from tweaking / adding to it. We just got 7 more maps opened up for Portal this last Friday, some tweaks to AI, additions to the Logic Editor, etc. I agree it has potential and with the community continuing to let devs know about features they want, we could see those things come to fruition in the future.
I agree with a lot of the points you have listed and I hope to see an expansion on the options to include some of these. As far as creating "hardcore" experiences though, I guess that's defined differently with everyone as I find I can still tailor setting to make the game feel much more hardcore than in the normal modes.
With the vehicles, I use the option where you have to spawn them from the menu. There always seem to be some there for the real players to take when needed.
I'm sure you've seen what Karmakut has been doing to create a more "miilsim" experience with Portal but I have taken some of his settings to help tweak my own.
btw, if you don't know already, Justin Wiebe from Ripple Effect has been very active on Twitter interfacing with the community and Tweeting about status updates on existing issues (e.g. XP/progression) in relation to Portal. If you're not already, I would encourage you to follow here on there and even shoot some feedback his way. You never know and it's not every day we as players get the chance to have this kind of exposure with someone on the inside.
@Kean_1111 What many people are after is the ability to re-create BF3/BF4 style Hardcore Rush. But it's not possible with the current Portal. Additions to logic editor doesn't really help since you can't even use the logic editor in Rush.
In addition to what CriscoCube listed. I really want the RCON kind of API back (logic editor will never have as much possibilities as we could have with RCON like API). I think it's the biggest reason why BF4 is still alive. The community were able to build all kinds of cool things with it even though it was really restricted (had to use other data sources like Battlelog to get things done).
- Could build integrations with for example Discord
- Show what map is currently being played
- Show how many players are in the server
- Could ping admins when there's a cheater or toxic people in the server even though admins weren't currently playing (would know to join in and spectate -> kick/ban)
- Could make server based leaderboards/statistics
- Could build a chat bridge between the server and Discord (or website, etc.)
- We were able to ban (soldier and vehicle) guns even though there was no official support for it (yeah, it isn't perfect but it's good enough with the access we have)
- Reward players with VIP perks when they were helping out with the server
- Reward players with VIP perks when they completed challenges
- Add ability for people to vote for the map they wanted to play on
- And a lot more stuff...
Having the RCON kind API with the events currently available in the Logic editor would be a dream come true (have had so many ideas in BF4 but they would rely on player locations being available). I've been coding server management tools for BF4 for 6 years and had a lot of fun doing it. Even learned new coding languages while doing these. Would be really awesome to be able to continue it with BF2042.

Absolutely all of this will improve the gameplay experience and quality of the game and the longevity of it as well. xfileFIN is a huge contributor to these applicaitons and other useful tools for BF4 and otherwise that contributed to the quality of the experience and longevity of the game. If support for RCON, even minimal support were provided, in conjunction with portal, this would lead to an explosion in possibilities for custom servers. Portal is so close to having SO much potential, I really hope that a few more tools like an RCON protocol become availible to make this game shine.

I'd love when all this wishes come true.
Current RUSH mode was made just so it's there without play-testing. Sides never change so you stuck on either side all the time.
It seems like EA does not trust its playerbase and cancelled a lot of stuff they included in previous games.
I also always cry when I see that they never looked back at things that work and don't even try to implement it in a new game.
It's like completely different people were developing a new game from scratch not building on previous titles... that just blows my mind.

@Dorfieeee yea I'm glad they recognized how much people like rush and added it in, but even non hardcore rush mode has a huge list off issues like squad and team management. I hope these are resolved as well as proper hardcore options as well.
