Honestly it seems like they hate the hardcore player base. It’s always something can’t find a server, or there’s no progression then they limit progression.
Look at battlefield 5 they tried everything they could not to put in a hardcore mode it took over 2 years.
With all this no progression it’s just made it super boring there is nothing to look forward too. I think I’ll just go back to Enlisted and HLL. It makes me sick to see where this franchise has gone.

When I heard there was no hardcore for BF5, I never bothered even trying it out, so I am with you on that. It just seems a bit crazy that Portal, which is advertiszed as "your battlefield" and all that, doesn't allow for a proper hardcore rush mode due to all the issues I listed above. Some of those issues could be alleviated if we could use the logic editor for rush, but a few variables/config options would still be mssing.
- 4 years ago@CriscoCube Once the private severs were released for BFV they had Hardcore servers. 125%, 150%, 200% bullet damage and you could adjust other options. Reality is the HC player base is about 10% of the community. And nobody can agree on just exactly which settings make up HC and are so abusive and childish regarding the settings. Take the reload full mags option, people will boycott the game over this setting alone.
So DICE have just washed their hands of the whole mess had given us portal so we can sort it out because it's impossible for them to do it.- 4 years ago
Yea people want different settings sometimes, so a standard can be difficult. This is far more basic than a conversation about if you want to play HC or not. Many of the same issues spread far past just HC as well but are just as if not more problematic for creating a HC mode.
If you don't like HC then don't play it, just like I won't play normal mode. That isn't the problem though. I think it is fair to assume that a primary idea of Portal is to allow players to make custom game modes. Hardcore is the most obvious basic custom game mode, so obvious its included in most BF games and most other FPS games even.
Super basic options that you need to make any version of HC are missing. I listed the most crucial ones already but for example, having no ability to implement a TK limit means someone can join the server and just blow away the friendly team ruining the entire game as long as he wants until the ONE admin joins, and you better hope that admin joins the right team since there is no kill feed, no all chat and no ability to add other admins....A team kill limit are not possible for any HC mode except FFA and TDM since the logic editor isn't available. Many other very important settings I described are also not available... so the whole Portal being able to make a mode how you want isn't really viable even for super basic modes like say hardcore rush or hardcore conquest.

Remove the specialists and the game will be so much better. Super human classes are so dumb!

@davidgmccoy1 I totally agree, however I think that discussion has taken place many times and is seperate from the even more fundamental issues I'm hoping to get resolved here. If you don't like specialists I suggest refunding or not buying, they are clearly a core mechanic of the game and likely intended to be used for moenization in the future. I'm trying to learn to live with them as horrible as they are.

@davidgmccoy1 I don't think it will happen though it would be so much better.
@CriscoCube dissapointing to not see some of the most basic things addressed in patch 3.1... guess we have to wait until next year to have any chance of some decent hardcore play.
