I only played Battlefield on the Frostbite engine (BFBC2, BF3, BF4, Hardline ) in the default hardcore mode on procon. So when I say this I say this with a heavy heart... Hardcore is only 10% of the player base these days. There may have been a time when it was greater but since BF4 it's barely been 10%. Also the main reason for the BF4 crowd not moving to BF1 and BF5 was that they could handle the slight shortening of the TTK and the slight reduction in the spotting mechanic. You read the forums, that was the biggest single complain from the true battlefielders..
So If you think that a game with 64 enemies, plenty of them AI bots, is going to be a short TTK you are dreaming. The spotting will most likely be back to BF4 levels with all the new future gear and the TTK is going to have to be very long just so you have a chance to survive on the battlefield.
DICE tried to move the core player base to a more hardcore game style and the player base spat it right back in their face. So don't expect much hardcore in BF2042 sorry.
- 5 years ago@ShevermiN If TTK is long, I will drop the game like a hot potato--as I have a few others. Just being honest. I absolutely HATE bullet-sponging kinds of games, and have no desire to pay good money for that kind of frustration.

I think the reason for that though is they dropped in in BF5, I preordered assuming it would be there like every version before it and sadly found it wasn't there, just couldn't play it anymore.
They also didn't include it at launch in BF1 so they were definitely putting it back burner from that point.
But the player base hasn't reduced, just if they don't have the mode in the game then that player base for BF specifically of course will drop.
I agree that they definitely tried to get everyone in the same sandbox with BF5 and it failed because of course it would, the people who like regular mode aren't going to like hardcore and they shouldn't have to, and vice versa.
You've encourage me though to go back to BF4 which was a fantastic version and I didn't know anyone was still playing it. Love that game.

Thats honestly just not true, the hardcore player base ranges very very deep in battlefield. Go back and look at all of the statistics of the previous games.

No HC that cool. They need to be clear(er) when a consumer is going to purchase. There is absolutely no facsimile of reality that would have me believe even the notion there WOULDN'T be a HC Mode! Thanks for the straight up answer!
