Is there any HC servers on Portal mode now? I can try it on Nov 19th
We found some in Portal last night.
I tried several different servers with Hardcore on.
My connection to them was too laggy for them to work. Teleporting tanks, rubberbanding, etc.
I figured 2042 wouldn't have HC with the lack of any mention on the subject and the introduction of Portal. That's a shame though. HC is the only way I prefer to play games like this. The weaponsmith and the more mature nature of MW2019 was why my friends and I bought that game but only because it had a hardcore mode. If not, we wouldn't have bothered.
When I first saw the reveal trailers for BF2042, my first reaction was that they killed what BG was all about. They thought it was those wild "Battlefield moments" that made the game good. .....sure, those were fun but the reason they were fun is because they weren't occurrences that happened all that often. That's why they were kind of unique and fun. I guess they figured making the gameplay more about these crazy "moments" would create a better game but IMO, it corrupts the formula of what really makes BF good.
It wasn't until Portal was revealed when I became interested and quite frankly, that is the only reason I will consider buying the game.
I think it's a good call to abandon the game at least for now, but I would revisit it in the coming days / weeks. I'm sure a lot of these issues will be sorted out and then you can determine if Portal can offer the experience you and your friends are looking for.
I'll likely be buying BF next week for the regular release but I will be watching the feedback about the issues, etc. until then. There was no way I was going to pay for an early release version because I knew there would be problems like these. .....I'm just hoping the major problems are address before next Friday. I'm really looking forward to creating hardcore Experiences in Portal and to see what others come up with. It makes sense to me why there isn't a hardcore mode in the other modes knowing that people would be creating them in Portal. .....and I have no doubt, they will be creating them.
