specify if you are console and which or PC.
PS5,
sennheiser gsp 600>
open back is good for long playing sessions as they let in more air and are cooler on the ear than closed back headphones
also allows me to chat with my partner in the same room.
I have a closed back headset for antisocial listening.

Always enjoyed my Sennheiser (not entirely sure which model, was intended to be for my records but they were comfy enough for long game sessions) but the heavy wire can be a bit much at times if you're the kind of person who wildly flails around like I do.
I hear really good things about the Arctis series, especially the 7's and Zen.

Steel Series 3. I paid like $25 for it Amazon warehouse.
- ATFGunr3 years agoLegend@85EagleScout Sennheiser GSP350 on PC now. After a good 10 years, I had to replace my Sennheiser 3D G4me 7.1 headset. They were amazing, but I got them when single and had the bucks to afford them lol, when the foam pads finally rotted off my head I could only get the 350. They’re good, but not as good.

Like most people are saying, Sennheisers are the way to go. I used HD380 pros forever and loved them. I've been accused of wallhacking many times using them. Now I'm using the PC38x's and while I wasn't in love with them at first, they grew on me. I still think my HD380's are my absolute favorite, but they don't make them anymore.
Closed back headphones are great for somewhat noisy environments, while open back will give you a better sound stage at the cost of being able to hear things around you.
I would recommend against getting the Game Zero's though. They sound harsh and are tuned for FPS games, but basically the higher frequencies are just turned up to hear footsteps or bullets I guess. I didn't really like them.
Good Luck!

audio-technica ATH AD700 with an Antlion ModMic for TeamSpeak
Those are open back headphones and rather lightweight and only moderately expensive (payed less than 200EUR when I got them several years ago). And so comfortable that I can wear them for hours with no issues or getting 'hot ears'. - EA_Atic3 years ago

I use Logitech G933 been serving me well for a long time now, sounds good feels good. It is on bigger side of headsets.. @85EagleScout,
/Atic - @FlibberMeister thanks for the response and really leaning towards the sennheiser brand. I only play fps games mostly battlefield and a fps vet even before the battlefield series came out....married 6 kids all grown....pushing 52 and sitting in the number 1 spot in play time in the world on xbox for 2042...but im using a 5 year old Turtle Beach - Ear Force XO One Amplified Gaming Headset and Headset Audio Controller and how much of a difference between these two? its not like you can go try them all out.
