The real issue with the vehicles is not that they are overpowered. Well, the hover craft needed an armor nerf, that was warranted. But the reason vehicles are so powerful is because the maps are wide open with hardly any structures for infantry to hide and move around in. If you aren't on the flag, you're out in the open in no man's land. One or two structures in the open are always crawling with infantry because they have no other option. And since there's 20+ people around it, vehicles go there to farm kills. Play breakthrough and just about every map has a couple sectors like this.
By keeping these vast open areas and just turning down vehicle damage, the kills might come down to a more balanced state but it's going to make the vehicles feel underwhelming and unsatisfying. What they should do is keep the vehicle damage high but give infantry more structures to utilize. That way vehicle drivers feel their weapons aren't marshmallow shooters and infantry doesn't feel like they are constantly getting slaughtered.

Soma you do realize that maps having larger and more prominent cover (like large buildings) is what makes Helios even more difficult to deal with right?
The wide open maps are the ones I have to constantly bail on and run away while piloting because theres no buildings or hills to duck behind to avoid locks and direct fire.
Helios were fine - people just dont want to adjust playstyle to address them.
I guarantee most people complaining have never spawned an AA tank or equipped an AA missile.- 4 years ago
Tell you what, if they made AA more avoidable, then made the SOFLAM lock unbreakable just at shorter range, say 150m that would change the game up, and require co-operation to deal with Helicopters, but also reward good piloting.

I'm not talking about tall buildings that helos can use as cover. I'm talking about smaller buildings that you can hide from rocket fire in. I'm guessing they're nerfing the nightbird aoe damage because people are getting too many multikils with it. Because when a nightbird does a run on those hot spots like I'm talking about, they can hit 20 people at once. If the infantry had more options, those cover spots wouldn't be so crowded and attractive to helo pilots.

@soma_poggers its not just the nightbird that got nerfed.
Again, look at maps from BF 3 and 4 that had vehicles, objectives had buildings like they do in this game currently - its really not any different.
Those cover spots were the same places helio pilots had to go in previous versions of the game to get kills - the objectives where people were...

Also to add Soma, BF maps have always had large expanses of open areas between objectives generally with a few exceptions.
