The 30mm gunner cannon adjustment was much needed and dates back to BF4. Everyone blamed FLIR but in reality it was the 30mm cannon and it's ridiculous 3mm radius in which it did full damage for most of that radius that was the big problem. Based on the patch notes, you'll need to have better accuracy with the cannon as splash damage on the outer radius will be weaker.
What sucks though is that counter measures aren't fixed yet - I wish these changes would have been made in tandem.
@rainkloudyeah they should had absolutely squeezed the countermeasure fix into update #2.
This would also be in a way a buff to the jets vs attack helicopters since the attack helicopters will no longer be able to double IR missile the jet if they find an opening.
The ceiling helicopters had been an issue in both BF3 and BF4. I am surprised that we had to have go through the same thing for the third time.
Using the cover and line of sights intelligently to break locks and avoid missiles is one thing. Staying at a distance that nothing on the ground can reach you is borderline an exploit. Especially considering how long it can take for someone on the other team with a clue of flying to secure a jet slot.
If one just wants to farm enemies which cannot fight back, there is always the solo mode where from the PoV of a ceiling helicopter feels like the ideal scenario they strive for.
