Helicopter nerf unwarranted - Unpopular opinion?

Im not sure what peoples problems with the helicopters was and I'm questioning how many of those people who complained actually played previous BF titles.

In past battlefield games when there was a heli up people would force them to flare - and make the chose between leaving or dying - with AA missiles, AA tank or with other tank rounds and HMG fire.

This has been my experience in a heli so far too in 2042. If a team constantly is watching for me I have to run off and flare or die which significantly reduces my ability to utilize the chopper properly however if a team doesn't attempt to deter me at all then sure Ill rack up a ton of kills. The same could be said for tanks if people didn't want to grab M5s in their loadouts

With the ability to swap loadouts in BF2042 without having to respawn and pick up an AA missile this should be even less of an issue.

I feel like this is just a small group of individuals in the community who complained who rather than adapt their playstyle for a few minutes of gametime to do whats best for themselves or their team wishes to be catered to so they can run around with their PP29 and an M5 with less inconvenience. (Yes Im aware the PP29 was nerfed too now)

@UP_Hawxxeye I agree and there still can be some level of realism retained.

There were better options to handle the balance of the helios or to combat certain playstyles than what was done for sure.

  • That nerf killed the attack helicopter. His role is to destroy the infantry and now he only has the purpose of being Anti-Aircraft.
Instead of nerfing the Heli, they could increase the limit by 1 per game. Anyone who is defeated by helicopter and does not return with a Stinger, heli or jet should not be heard. Fools!

  • As of now, the 30mm/co-gunner does less damage than a glock doing bodyshots. Why and how?

As other players has stated, the nerf of helicopter weaponry is unrealistic and right down irritating. You're supposed to be chomped by a helicopter as infantry, and if you wish to come to terms with the balance, then rather than nerfing weaponry, nerf armor?! This goes for all vehicles in general.

I tried the tank yesterday, and imagine my surprise when I launched a HEAT shell about 3m in the ground next to a player and he loses 25% of his HP and armor? What the actual fudge?

I tried the 50. cal turret gun (!!!!!) and managed to hit an enemy with 2 body shots and a headshot in the distance, and the dude ducked behind a sand dune with 30% hp left, tossed 2 anti armor grenades which I tried to avoid by smoking. That did not work, and they hit the front, and then he came up behind the sand dune with a (you guessed it) CG, shot once and my tank was wrecked.

    Where's the logic?

Then you are what is wrong in this. If you are a good player you can get more than that 4/5. Why should heli not be able to do that. You can camp entire game and get 20 kills with 0 deaths just camping toxic c5 drone. You want to ruin one place those toxic players can't reach that easy?

@IhateBlueberriez agreed! I mean it was accepted before that if you played BF games you had to work with your team to take out vehicles.

With 128 players on a map thats easier than ever but instead of sticking to how the game has been for ages they're catering to the "I need to be a lone rogue" COD player mentality.

    Its atrocious.
  • The problem is that you are not the only chopperThe AA missile radius is below 350 m. That is just a walk towards a flag. After you flare from flag C and go back towards flag A, even if there is a guy there, he cannot aim at you because there flares are not just flares anymore. You cannot lock on a target that just flare for like 4-5 seconds, regardless of where the flares are, and they may be behind a building. Meaning, they are not real flares.

With 128 players, dealing with tanks, choppers and people at the same time is really hard.

But I do think the flare refill should be faster by about 3 seconds. Likewise, the AA lock on distance should be higher, 450-500 m.

  • I totally agree. All these complaints seem to come from people who like to play infantry only and don't want vehicles…where there’s other games for that. Same thing happened with the bolte and 57mm cannon on the wildcat, etc. Things should be buffed to increase balance, not nerfed. People want a realistic (sort of) war game, but complain when they die against a helo or huge 30mm/57mm cannon? Imagine the Taliban crying about nerfing predator drones or air strikes. “No fair bro, we can’t toss our suicide vests that high! We can’t counter that with our AK’s!” But I see helo’s dropping like flies if people use the AA weapons properly or SOFLAM. If you actually fly the helo’s, you know how easy it is to die in them. Hell, the other day a freakin condor with a 50mm cannon gunner got me because he was actually pretty good at using his thrusters to be fast, and got higher than me. This after i hit him with an AA rocket and 2 anti vehicle rockets. So should we nerf that too?

Too many vehicles in general. I’ve never played a BF game where the flood of vehicles at every objective is so overwhelming and non stop.

Work with your squad to take down single Bolte, with multiple squad mates being killed and respawning to take out that one Bolte, only to have an enemy Hovercraft, another enemy Bolte and an enemy Little Bird show up 10 seconds later.  It’s a seemingly futile endeavor.

Every single transport doesn’t need a freaking mini gun or 30mm cannon. We need more transports and less highly mobile gun platforms.
