@jeremy1010110A shell of it's former self. A good explanation. A burning trash fire. But, as awful as this game is, the game will improve. It'll just take years. Hold EA accountable for forcing DICE to put the game out early and call out DICE for not holding their ground. I can't say the devs are 100% at fault, even if they do deserve some of the heat from this.

I stopped watching when he said that this is the worst Battlefield launch ever.
He obviously didn't play BF4 for the first year.....

It's a tough one for me @Trokey66 ,
As I somehow see BFV as probably the worst launch of a Battlefield game.
That is,,,, until BF2042 now launched.
Reason being and why I do not consider BF4 being the worst:
BF4 was broken in netcode and we had terrible blue-screens-of-death yes.
But with BF4, we had the right content and the right direction was all there from the get-go!
The BF5 game foundation was broken at launch.
The reveal was terrible. A mess. Bionic limbs. Blue face paint. Environment not matching WW2. Female soldiers shown at frontlines they never took part in.
And then the special event where the EA Dice executive creative officer gave the best consumer advice: "If you don't like it, don't buy it !"
So that is what many didn't. Very cool of EA to help their dedicated fans save money and shop smart instead elsewhere. Politicizing a game that didn't need that...
BFV launched not as a finished product. Matter of fact, it was not given a fraction of developer time and resources versus previous BF games.
And that was evident when trying the product. Serious bugs in every single major feature of the game. Progression system, performance issues, vehicles. All broken... Not just the severity of these bugs, but also the sheer high number of serious issues and how deeply ingrained they were in the game engine. Reason why many of them truly unfixable due to this!
And now we have BF2042 along these same lost lines...
With severe problems in the core of the game engine and philosophy. Next to the cartoonish and arcade gun mechanics, when compared to classics like BFBC2+BF3+BF4...
Thinking about it - Maybe the worst that has happened to the Battlefield game franchise is probably the making of Star Wars Battlefront? As after that EA have made all the Battlefield games using that same arcade style mold...
- Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@CyberDyme Nope, BF4 hands down worst launch for me.
BFV launch didn't bother me because I wasn't threatened by women in the regardless of setting and really wanted the prosthetic arm for Helga. And quite frankly the language used by the 'community' makes DICE's response reasonable all things considered.
The 'right content and direction'?
Well, the direction is subjective and there is nothing I see yet that overly concerns me (accepted issues ignored!), I can still build 'class' load outs but apply them to any specialist I want. Meta play is still a concern but until the PP-29 is fixed, that is the meta!
Content wise across Portal and AoW we have 14 maps? Not bad and more than previous games at launch if I recall. As to weapons and gadgets 22 is arguably low but at the end of the day, you can only use one at a time and there is plenty to unlock if you are willing to put that damned PP-29 down and pick something else!
And we are yet to see what is available and how through the seasons.
My biggest issue is the social side, that is incediblt lacking!
- 4 years ago@Trokey66 I know we rag on 3 and 4 quite often thanks to the hilarity that was the browser plugin for battlelog and general stability on launch (and rightfully so) but I'd honestly take launch BF4 weapons over the weapon "balancing" in core 2042.
It's that, or the bf2042 armorer needs to be strung up since it appears 80% of the weapons have barrels not attached to the trunnions, or mated using silly putty.
Personally i was hoping the PP-29 was the start of the "better" guns and i even worked pretty hard on getting unlocks for the AK and such as i figured it was a BF4 situation where once you got some solid unlocks to tame the weapons a bit, the intended role would show.
Nope, currently working on the last AR to see if that vertical climb can be controlled to make it AN-like, but that's proving interesting since i get easily outshot by anyone with a subgun at all ranges (or M5/AK with a few attachments for that matter).
I'm refusing to use the PP just because it's so obviously broken that I'd rather work on the others and try to eek some life out of them, a one-gun meta is pretty horrible.
I also think it's pretty damn even on a technical level now with all the rubberbanding and freezes during AoW, but YMMV on that one i suppose.- Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@Fringerunner I am old and have slept many times since those games came out but I am fairly confident that there were 'balance issues' at launch too.
I am by no means suggesting that BF2042 does not have issues, it obviously does just not any worse than some previous games.
If we could and we went back to the launch forums, we would see similar threads there as we see here.
It is nothing new unfortunately.

@Trokey66 If you stopped then I guess you don't like the truth. He didn't make up these points.
The fact is, charging a lot of money for broken and unfinished game to a multimillion company is total bs. And yes, since 4 we had this. And probably gets fixed/finished months after release if not year(s), enough. And hey, 100 bucks.
This is my opinion, but game has gone wrong direction, I'm also here for a battlefield, not cod or Apex. Game just handles this way now.
Also an interesting topic of what we had and don't. Not saying that should have all in one but the list is long tho.
