First off, I have over 200 hours in 2042, I have over 1500 hours collectively across all Battlefields. I consider myself a decent pilot, not a pro but skilled enough to know when something is broken or unbalanced and the Hind/Condors are definitely unbalanced.
It's quite evident that there's vehicle weapon disparities, such as between the 50mm cannon that can be equipped on the Light Recon Vehicle and the very same 50mm cannon that can be equipped on the Hind/Condor. Immediately you will notice the 50mm cannon on the Light Recon Vehicle reloads far slower, has a far smaller ammo count and deals less damage overall and rewards only precise and direct hits. Now, contrast this to the 50mm cannon on the Hind/Condor, this cannon reloads way to fast, it has enough ammo to fight continuously without needing downtime to replenish ammo and deals significant amounts of damage to all types of targets and has a large amount of splash damage. The effective range of the 50mm cannon is also way too good, the thing shoots lasers across the map with almost no drop off.
The miniguns are simply like little Anti-Air/Anti-Infantry Cannons. They perform way too well in all given scenarios, they have the range of Anti-Air vehicles and the spread of a Sniper rifle. This is abhorrent to the very idea of a transport vehicle, no weapon on a transport vehicle should be so good that it can outclass entire groups of targets. Take the MAV for instance, it has many different weapon choices that all excel at very specific target types, with the main weapon being a balanced all rounder.
The Tanky HP of the Hind/Condor combined with the firepower I've detailed makes it the King of the skies, unrivalled by other air vehicles even if they're skilled or not, the OP Miniguns and 50mm Cannons outclass the other vehicle types. The Hind also has a noticeable advantage over the Condor when it comes to verticality so the Hind for the most part, rules the skies.
You can't have both, Air Dominance and Tanky Support coming out of one vehicle.
You need to pick, is the Hind/Condor going to be a Tanky Support, used to transport infantry with low firepower, or is the Hind/Condor going to be an Attack Vehicle with lower HP. Because right now, it's both an attack vehicle and a transport vehicle and that's a massive problem.
A simple solution would be to do the following:
- Increase Minigun spread.
- Increase Minigun overheat speed by at least a 1/3.
- Halve Minigun range.
- Replace the 50mm Cannon with the 50mm Cannon that's found on the Light Recon Vehicle, and then further increase the firing delay.
- Halve the Hind/Condor 50mm Cannon range or significantly increase drop off distance.
As it stand now, you can't have both the tanky nature and powerhouse that is these flying snipers. Please DICE/EA make the appropriate nerfs that this transport vehicle needs to actually be a transport vehicle and not both an attack vehicle and a transport vehicle. You don't see MAVs going up against tanks and winning outright so why is this happening with the Hind/Condor and Jets?
Something is absolutely broken and anyone who says it's not must substantiate why the Recon Vehicle has such a weak 50mm Cannon in comparison.
- Twordy4 years agoSeasoned Ace@S3SSioN_SoL Hind/Condor is basically an Aerial Tank.
My solution:
- Remove the third 50mm Gunner Permanently. Leave a spotters position only. Then buff slightly miniguns on both sides.
- Decrease Hinds/Condor health by at least 30%. Make internal repairs faster by 15% then.
- Optionally remove auto-repairs. Create 2-3 functional Airstrips/Landing areas in the same manner as in BF2. Players could then resupply and repair aerial vehicles really fast. Hovering all the time with unlimited ammo is OP and breaks immersion. Knowledge of the game mechanics should be praised and benefit players, not the happy trigger. Aerial vehicles are completely broken. The infantry has a really hard time. Assign only certain vehicles to a specific map same as in previous BFs- 2 Hinds on one side with an attack chopper is a huge pathology on 64-player maps. Jets should be placed in a separate category.- 4 years ago
I agree with the poster.
It is ridiculous.

What frustrates me is trying to use the AA rocket launcher. It's slow to lock on and stupidly slow to reload. And more often than not it doesn't show that you've even locked on, when you have. It's glitched.
By the time I've fired, the Heli has used it's counter measures and flown off to hide behind cover. It takes too long to get a second shot away.
I'd be happy to have the rocket damage reduced slightly if the weapon reloaded quicker and worked properly. I don't expect to shoot down a Heli in a single shot but I should be able to give the pilot some problems so they have to be more careful when attacking.
Right now it's like shooting fish in a barrel. Infantry has no chance. Lis's new rockets mostly miss and chaff takes care of the AA. The Heli is too strong.

DICE slowed down the 50mm rate of fire so now the new meta will be same ole same ole flying tank Hind and Condor with 40mm. 😂🤦🏻
You can’t make this stuff up.
Hind/Condor
- still too much HP
- flares still can be popped too frequently
- 40mm cannon will be the new meta(duh).
- still too many available in 64 player game modes. If you’re going to halve the total numbers of infantry, you need to do the same with vehicles. 1 Hind, 1 Condor per team for 64 player game modes. Add more quad runners, import the Blackhawk transport and the light jeep from portal and add them to all game modes.
- remove 50mm and 40mm. Replace nose cannon with a minigun and be done with it. Transports need to be transports and not mobile infantry farming platforms - 3 years ago
Lol I just read the patch notes. The old Hind/Condor miniguns had a max range of 1000 meters. Unreal how anyone thought that was a good idea.

@CPT_GASLIGHT Yup... that range made them flying AA Tanks. Jets literally couldn't kill them in a 1v1.
- ATFGunr4 years agoLegend@S3SSioN_SoLI agree with lots of what you said, and use a Hind as an air superiority weapon regularly. I don’t agree with the verticality comment. Having hunted many condors, they can out climb and have a higher max altitude than the Hind. Once it descends the Hind will own him on maneuvering, but vertically the Condor has an advantage. It also sucks that the pilot gets squat besides passenger kills, if you beat up the map for a whole round it should be worth more than 9k points. The Condor and Hind need a nerf that’s for sure. It needs to keep its health so it can still transport troops into a hot LZ, but it’s weapons could be nerfed without taking away its purpose.

Another problem - nobody is going to pick up a fully nerfed Condor above Attack Heli from the Aerial Vehicles pool. Condor has to be in the transport vehicles section. The section should be divided into Transport (including nerfed Hind/Condor ) - Armored - Attack Helis - Jets. The game could become then relatively more playable for Infantry, and more balanced.

The Omni present mini Death Stars(Condor and Hind) are the current Meta. They can beat any attack chopper head to head and even beat AA tanks head to head.
Broken AF!

@ATFGunrGood points and I agree. A transport vehicle needs to be tanky, but it can't be a "flying Death Star" as @Psychopski described them as being.

I kill tanks all the time with the MAV lol. Very rarely does one roll up and just wreck the MAV, if ever.

Hind > Jet
Condor > Jet
Nightbird > Jet
Jet = Trash
Jet [ aircraft killer ] = Lie

@Poor-JETThis 100%.
As much as I get annoyed by attack jets in BF4, now I see the essential need for separate spawn pools for jets and attack Heli.
I’m thoroughly convinced the current DICE team
has almost ZERO game time in previous BF games and they have absolutely no idea how to balance vehicles. With DICE being so completely out of touch with their own franchise, why don’t they contract guys like LevelCap, Flakfire and JackFrags as consultants?

I know youtubers are not popular in this forum, but this is really "funny":

Agree completely. Just too many features/abilities.
On exposure breakthrough they are virtually impossible to kill as one side gets it.
Take the cannon off. Or flares so they can be brought down quickly. High risk/reward.
