I've noticed most people posting videos in this thread have really low ping times. @LlamaWithKatana has a 18 ping in the video above.
From my testing, having a low ping in Battlefield is a disadvantage because it reduces your reaction time.
A ping slightly higher than 100ms seems to be the sweet spot for lag compensation in Battlefield. 110ms is about perfect.
110ms ping causes the server to teleport you 92ms into the future due to lag compensation. (110ms - 18ms = 92ms time travel into the future)
Obviously a 92ms advantage in reaction time is massive. It should be noted this high ping advantage only applies while moving. For example, a 110ms high ping player coming around a corner will see a 18ms low ping player first and start shooting before the low ping player even sees them.
Friends, the thing is that EA/DICE is just ignoring us here.

If you have the net stats activated (a good idea), with the bar at the top you can see your ping and time nudge (TN). If your time nudge is over 20ms, just quit. Anything at 20 or over is a terrible gaming experience.

Oh. Time Nudge! Thanks. I commented in your other thread, asking what TN was. So it's latency compensation when there is differential delay on server updates between clients. This is exactly why we used to have server ping limits back when DICE gave us real server control.

3 known issues added to #Battlefield2042's fix list 🐛
🔸 Irish's APS-36 Shootdown Sentinel cannot block Lis' G-84 TGM.
🔸 XP indicator shows 0/0 in the game menu.
🔸 Match round start cinematic: Some players immediately crash into the ground/objects if deploying with aircraft.

It still feels like my bullets are made of rubber. I had to switch to a weapon with a bigger mag so I can at least kill 2 players with one clip before having to reload. That has helped, but man, why should it take me that many rounds (with hit markers) to take someone down when I am dead almost instantly when shot at?
- 3 years ago@RaginSam Just had a match and it was the worst ever. I couldn’t kill a player if I was two inches away. When will a true dev fix this if there is any left for this game!

- ATFGunr3 years agoLegend@Adamonic Played last night (Jul 12). First round felt slow, ended up 2-12. Next round, went 21-4 and it felt way smoother. How can that even be explained? How can one round be shooting popcorn and swimming in mud then the next round is 3 hit kills and running normally. It’s been worse since the last patch. My past games I was a consistent top 15 with about 18-17 kd (I die lots pushing points). It’s the inconsistency that irritates the F out of me.

Sometimes it's like this for me: I start the game. In the beginning I'm only 1-shot-victim and my shots don't seem to get through. After 1/4 (sometimes 2/4) of the round, I suddenly don't fall over as quickly, but my opponents do. Then I can play really well.

A quick update on Time Nudge. I found a YouTube video of someone on PS4 showing TN increasing with packet loss on outbound packets being sent to the game server.
What this means is my past statement about time nudge being the same as extrapolation offset is wrong. Extrapolation offset increases with inbound packet loss, not outbound.
TN appears to be a server-side buffer for game controller inputs being sent from clients to the server. So if time nudge is increasing it means there's a connection problem with outbound packets being sent from your PC to the server.
Everything I said about extrapolation offset is correct and still applies to BF4-BFV and 2042, but I was incorrect about time nudge being the same thing as extrapolation offset. Time nudge affects outbound packets and extrapolation offset affects incoming packets. They're two seperate buffers and I probably would have caught this if I still owned a copy of 2042 and tested it before posting. Oops! 🙂

- ATFGunr3 years agoLegend@OskooI_007 I had that same thing the other night in a container that was being moved by a crane. When I moved inside, I teleported to the ground. When I tried to then move away, I popped back into the container. This went on a good 5 times popping back and forth. I was about to quit when it suddenly sorted itself.

I also agree it has deteriorated since the recent patch whatever they changed and it certainly needs addressing asap.

Last night 7/13 was one of the worse nights I have had playing. The hit marker would show me landing 6-7 shots without the player going down. They were 1-2 hits and would kill me. I played 5 rounds and finally gave up. The night before on the 12th felt good and I was doing my normal 20ish kills 10 deaths

@Sc0tch_WhiskeyIt’s working as intended nothing will be fixed.
Shutting down tons of servers due to low player count means many players now have no local servers so more lag compensation is needed.
More lag compensation was introduced in June 6th update v1.0.0 but they just call it netcode improvementsThis is exactly when my 20ms ping felt like 200ms ping

Another way I know the TTD vs TTK is off, I have way more assists than kills. My bullets don't kill anyone, but I am killed instantly. They need to reduce the lag comp and add a Server Browser.

Yeah I had exactly the same experience earlier today, seriously like none of my bullets were registering at all on two different rounds of Exposure.
Tried one more round and as if by magic it was fine again and hit reg seemed on point, go figure. !
My ping ranges from 20 - 25ms, I am based in the UK.
