Bit hard giving advice on a beta.
I would say spot enemies like a crazy thing =P. So much easier when you know where the enemy are, which is extremely easy on BF1. If the beta stuff stays the same for launch then casper specialist had a passive perk which told you when enemies were near, plus the drone, and you can run with proxy grenades.
On a position I'd go to the spot I'm least likely to get shot and then once the proxy grenade/passive shows the enemy hunt them down. Or I was using the drone on a safe position to watch for people running in.
Or you could stay further away from a position which has a lot of teammates on it and then shoot the enemy as they run in from a direction they're not expecting.
You don't all need to be in a tiny square.
Sound and minimap should stop you getting killed from behind which means not staying on scoped for ages.
On aiming if you're using BF1 extended 3.85 medic gun was easiest for me. Beta was the smgs or assault rifles then the dmr. But I hope they're gonna do a balance pass.

Dont run in the open and make sure you play defensively near wooded areas
