Yes, there are some hardcore servers in Portal (accessible via main menu).

Hi @Assault_Lemming,
Unfortunately then EA do not host any hardcore servers in this game. Matter of fact, the very low remaining number of players makes it even hard for EA to properly populate servers running in standard softcore game mode and as result not even all geographic regions have anymore servers available even for this.
The only way you can play in hardcore mode in the BF2042 environment is within the Portal mode, where players on your own can setup all the rules/parameters you want your own game server to follow. Aka: Soldier health starts at 60% and no health regeneration. No mini-map and no enemy soldier tagging.
It is however very challenging these days to get build up a server community of dedicated gamers, because the server that you set up in the portal disappears the instance when you and the last player may leave the server. Hence, nobody else can then go back in again to start it up again and keep it alive for others to join and have fun on it while you and your assigned admins may take a break away from it.
Best of luck with it, as we are many that miss the hardcore gaming in BF these days...

There's not an official hardcore mode but, as the others have mentioned already, you should be able to find quite a few in Portal.
- @CyberDyme I believe Portal servers now stay live for 7 days and the owner (or any player?) can join the server during those 7 days to reset the 7 day timer.
They added this feature in a previous portal update unless I totally misunderstood the update?

As that is a good generous move from EA then, making it more practical to build up our server communities as we used to do also in the good old 'legacy' days! ;o)
